“Jacuzzi date spot.”
Love this place for dates. Rooms are clean. Nice view of city. Great jacuzzi. Lobby sapces beautiful and staff is cordial.
“Very pleased”
Everything was great. The only thing that could have nade it better would have been if the in-house restaurant/bar stayed open past 8 pm. Very dissappointing as there is nothing nearby.
“Perhaps the only choice in Downtown Akron !”
The hotel is being renovated , you may want to ask for the renovated room. The food is decent, though priced higher. Access to guest floors are restricted only to guests with valid room access card. For the rates the hotel charges, the amenities in the room could be better. For those who prefer staying in the heart of the downtown area of Akron, this is the only hotel , the other hotel run by the University is far below this hotel's standards and ambiance.
“Nice hotel, great location”
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a concert at the Akron Civic Theater. It was nice to be so close to the venue. The hotel was nice - nothing spectacular but no complaints at all. I would definitely stay here again.
“Nice room; very limited dining options”
Dining options are practically non-existent; both in the hotel (didn't try room service) and near hotel.
“Just OK”
Older hotel and it shows its age in decor and smell. Housekeeping missed a few items in the room I was assigned; I contacted the front desk and they sent someone up...even offered to switch my room. The room A/C barley kept the room cool...however outside temp was about 98 degrees.
“Good location for us; nice enough”
Great location as we had appointment at Akron Children's Hospital; convenient parking on the weekend (and free) with small charge during the week; some attractions nearby; quite clean. The staff was friendly, especially one front desk clerk, who was able to give great recommendations. My son wanted to see the MMA Saturday night fights and she sent us to the right place. Also, had business center which they allowed me to check emails all hours of the day/night for free.
“Needs updating”
The hotel had been bought by Ramada 2 weeks before my stay. The reason I would not recommend the hotel at this point in time is because the beds were Sleep Number beds that were locked on the highest setting- extremely uncomfortable ! When those are changed, I would reconsider my recommendation. Also, the bathtub drain was clogged. The place obviously needed some TLC, which hopefully Ramada will give it. The location is super- right near the Akron downtown area, and neat restaurants, and the University of Akron, which we were visiting.
“Glad I didn't pay full price.”
The Ramada in downtown Akron has seen better days. The furniture and ammenities haven't been updated since the early 90s (you remember - what we had before flat screen TVs). The hotel is in a questionable part of town and the building security reflects that. Oh and don't bother with the hotel's restaurant; the food was reasonably priced, but thats about the only good thing I can say about it. Also worth noting: no breakfast buffet and parking is not included in the price. That being said, this hotel is a perfectly fine place to stay. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean. Its definitely a step up from Super 8.
“Nice view, poor housekeeping.”
The view from the hotel was great, the front desk lady was great. The room had Sleep Number beds in them which we could not get to even out in firmness even when the numbers were the same, so I kept waking up as I rolled toward the middle of the bed. There was an old towel lying behind the chair in the room and pizza sauce on the wall and carpet by the trash can and the paper under the coffee pot had stains on it from where the last person had used it. The bedding appeared clean and I hope it was! Our room was by the elevators, so you could hear them going up and down from inside the room. The pool water was a little cloudy and the walls in the pool area had chipping paint. This could be a good hotel, but it needs some attention.
