“Great stay in Lomas del Volcan”
We stayed in Lomas del Volcan along a weekend (January 18-20). Everything was fine from the reception to check out. Rooms are independent cabins with a terrace with a view to the volcano (if you are lucky enough to see it without all the clouds usually covering it). Staff is nice and helpful, I totally recommend this hotel.
“Great spot”
Great place, very private and clean. Friendly staff, very helpful. This was our one of our favorite places on our trip. Though we also went to and enjoyed the Observatory, we enjoyed our time at Lomas much more, as it isn't overrun.
“So beautiful!”
This hotel is a must see! It is very clean,comfortable and so pretty. The view from the back of the cabin to the Volcano is breathtaking! The volcano is right in front of you. The people are so nice and helpful and the food amazing! You must see for yourself!
“Beautiful View”
The hotel was fabulous with beautiful grounds and excellent breakfast. Staff was very friendly and front desk spoke English well. Not alot of info on tours but that is with most of Fortuna. Rent a car. Driving was easy. Can't wait to go back.
“"Kept expecting more"”
This hotel is nestled in front of the beautiful Arenal Volcano. The room was beautiful and very romantic. The front desk was awesome because check in time was 2:00 pm and we arrived 12:00 pm and they allowed us to settle in our room with no additional charge. The gentleman was Great!! Very helpful with questions on tours and anything they offered in the town. The one service we did not like and was horrible was the wait staff in the restaurant. No one there seemed happy to be there and the food was not that great. Yes you are given free breakfast, but the staff was not very friendly and unhappy. They do not live by Costa Rica's saying "PURA VIDA". We ate there for dinner and the plates were not cheap and when we asked to have yuca instead of veggies with our dinner the waiter let me know that he would need to discuss it with the chef... Honestly we paid between $15-$17 a plate for fish and chicken and that should have been a YES since Yuca is grown and they have it in their kitchen... They did not come and check on us from time to time and the food was not the great. That is the only thing that did not sit well with us at Las Lomas del Volcan. We stayed at the Hotel El Silencio Del Campo in La Fortuna and they had "Excellent Service" all the way around to the housekeeping. I wish we had never left them..
“VERY NICE PLACE- FAR FROM MADDENING CROWD”
GREAT VIEWS OF THE VOLCANO-ESPECIALLY LATE NIGHT WHEN FOG/MIST CLEARS UP-BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE AND LOTS OF BIRDS-SOUNDS OF THE JUNGLE BEAUTIFUL IF WAKE UP EARLY-FRIENDLY FRONT DESK STAFF FOR WHATEVER YOU MIGHT NEED-NICE LITTLE BAR WITH TV SCREEN, NONE IN ROOMS.

WOW! I loved this hotel. The grounds are amazing! The room was cute and cozy. I will definetly go back. Two thumbs up!!!!
“Awesome bird watching”
I'd definitely recommend this hotel. The setting is fabulous--fairly isolated with gorgeous views. The bird watching from our back porch in the early hours was mind blowing--and the howler monkeys were sure to wake us up in time. Breakfast is nice. My only criticism involved minor points of comfort--most importantly there is not enough light to read by in the room. The pillows are also very uncomfortable. Lastly, I would think the hotel would want to plug up the gaps under the doors. I'm surprised few little critters crawled in (we had a scorpion in our bathtub in ANOTHER hotel) and they are certainly wasting a lot of air conditioning out the gap.
“Breathtaking views! Great food! Friendly staff.”
The bungaloes were big and well airconditioned. Very close to town. Each morning we awoke to the sound of howler monkees, and the sight of yellow beaked toucans sitting on the tree tops. The view of the volcano is breath taking! Could use some softer pillows. Very highly recommended.
“Toucans above!”
We saw so many different types of birds including toucans while eating breakfast. The grounds were beautifully manicured. We were able to charge our massages, excursions, etc. to our room-nice feature instead of having to hit ATM's for cash. Staff was polite and efficient. Good food and lots of it. Shower big enough for 12 people. Loved hearing the rain on the roof one night.
