“the best hotel near the akropolis”
the best hotel near the akropolis ' the hotel is so good that you dont want to see the attraction ' the room and service is perfect
“Best location, excellent hotel”
We stayed as a family here for just two nights as a stopover to see the sights of Athens and the hotel was just perfect for that. We have photos of the children in the rooftop jacuzi with the Acropolis as a backdrop - it's that close! The new Acropolis museum is just down the road, as is a metro station - it's just a grteat location for getting around the main sights. The area isn't 'seedy' as on some of the other reviews that we read on Expedia before booking. The hotel itself is very pleasant, more boutique style, and the staff were always very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a serve yourself buffet of what i consider a good standard and variety. Overall, everything that we wanted - not chintzy or stuffy, but friendly, relaxing, good standard, great location ... and the beds were a dream! One tip - we had a larger double room with a balcony with a view of the front street, which was infintely better that the children's twin room which just had a window overlooking a central courtyard and the other side of the hotel - this was much darker and not as pleasant - still a good size, but not as large as ours - so they do vary ... so request a room with a balcony - and you may even get the Acroplolis side I guess! We would definitely stay there again and recommend it without hesitation.
“2 thumbs up”
We heard mixed reviews about this hotel, but liked the location. The Herodion Hotel in Athens did not disappoint. The hotel has an impressive lobby/bar that was perfect to cool off in after a hot day of sightseeing. The room was what i expected for Athens, clean and compact, good bathroom with plenty of water pressure for taking a shower. There is a roof top terrace that has a great view of the Acrop. (best in the evening since there is no shade). I saw an outdoor jacuzzi but the weather was to hot to even think about testing it. We only stayed one night, got a good rate with a nice buffet breakfast, all in all 2 thumbs up...
“good hotel, great terrace”
Location is right by the acropolis and shot walk to the plakas which is the main touristy area. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was fairly average - buffet style options. Great jucuzzi on the terrace, although they charge 5 euros for 15 minutes which is a bit cheeky. Terrace is fantastic, with a great view and drinks service. good place to get away from the city.
“Great hotel, wonderful service”
Great hotel, wonderful manager
“Great Location and Would Stay There Again”
I enjoyed my stay at the Herodion Hotel. The staff was freindly upon our arrival. The hotel room was clean and well maintained. It was located right by all points of interest in Plaka including the Parthenon and the new museum. The rooftop lounge area had a great view of the Parthenon.
“Fantastic stay”
The location of this hotel cannot be beat, just one block from the Acropolis. We were only there two days, so proximity to the major sites was of utmost importance. We almost stayed near Syntagma Square, and would have been disappointed had we chosen to do so. The hotel must have been recently renovated as everything was of nice quality and we have travelled a lot. The lobby area was classy and breakfast sumptuous. The side street was quiet, and much preferred over the noisy Plaka area (although fun to explore while choosing to be awake). Rooms as in much of Europe are not large, but they were spotless and the air conditioning worked well. The staff was wonderful, and we regret not getting the name of the wonderful man who loned us a needed convertor and complimentary internet access. The view from the rooftop terrace was spectacular of the Acropolis lit up at night. Do check the room before accepting. We were disappointed with the first room shown, but after tipping the helpful bellman for baggage assistance he came up with a room overlooking the garden which was much better. We took the metro to and from the hotel, although we had to leave at 5:30 a.m. for the airport. We had no concerns about safety at that time of the morning. We would highly recommend this hotel! Another bonus is it the location barely one half block to the spectacular new Acropolis Museum.
“Cool Chic hotel in teh heart of Athens,”
Hotel superb, nicely decoreated, fantatsic roof terrace with Jacuzzzis.
“Herodion Hotel in Athens”
Right in the heart of Athens with a wonderful view of the Acropolis from the rooftop deck. Easy access from the airport on the X95 express bus with a 5 minute walk to the hotel. Plenty of places to eat and a local bus stop for the "Hop on, Hop off" tourist doubledecker bus.
“Highly recommend”
The staff was very helpful and courteous. Full breakfast was good with very good American brewed coffee. Location is wonderful. We had a view of the Acropolis from our room. It's walking distrance from the Acropolis, the Platka, and the tram. The new Acropolis museum is a short block away, althought not open as yet. When we return, we plan to stay there. The hotel exchange rate was as good as the banks.
