“Comfortable, spacious, and great value”
I found my stay at the Douglas Fir Resort extremely comfortable and would recommend it most highly to anyone wanting to stay in Banff on a budget.
“Great for the whole family”
What a great place to stay with kids. The waterslides and indoor playground were fantastic. The room was good value and comfortable size. We'll stay again.
“Excellent Family Hotel”
Hotel exceeded my expectations; friendly, polite staff, excellent customer service. Waterslide great for older children and Playzone for younger kids.
“nice hotel in Banff”
It is a nice place to stay in Banff, clean, quiet, specially there are kitchenette and free WiFi. Location is not in the center of downtown, but we rented a car, so it's not a problem.
“Great place for kids”
I attend a winter conference in Banff every year, and we always choose to stay at the Douglas Fir rather than the hosting hotel. We have little kids, and this is the best family hotel I know of. All the suites have a full kitchen including a dishwasher, which makes meals easy. There is a huge, clean playstructure which the kids happily play on for hours. And the waterslides are fun for everyone. This year we invited another family with us so my husband had other adults to visit with, and everyone had a great time. The Douglas Fir isn't as posh as some of the other hotels in Banff, but it is clean, the beds are comfortable, and it can't be beat for kids!
“Rustic place in national parc”
This is a great place with an attached pool with great waterslides for the kids and an indoor playground. We stayed in a studio with loft and all was fine. Service every day, access to the ski bus, sort of high speed internet access (slow dsl) and a BBQ place outdoors for your use. Wood burning fireplace so great and very rustic.
“Great resort”
We stayed at Douglas Fir for 5 nights using it as a home base for day trips around Banff. We had 1 bed chalet with loft (total 6 people in our party). It was fairly clean and comfortable. The kitchen a bit tight, but equipped with big fridge, microwave, stove and dishwasher. We normally had breakfast and supper at the chalet and lunch at some place outside. The chalet had nice fireplace, we used it once. The scenery and surroundings were great. Nice feature was a free ride on Banff city bus if you show your resort key to the driver. We used it few times to get to Banff shopping area. Buses are not very frequent though (~40 min) but go pretty much on schedule (ask at main desk) Free waterslides and kids play area were hit, but too much chlorine in the pool water. They also have two bbq grills in a common use gazebo on first come basis.
“A very good choice for stay in Banff”
The two water slides and the play room are my kids favourate. The BBQ place is so convenient for preparing food....
“Best stay you will ever have”
have been to this hotel many times..will never stay anywhere different when in Banff
“Can't complain!”
Absolutely nothing to complain about apart from the excessive amount of static electricity that seemed to surround me. Worst point: over-enthusiastic housekeeping staff who were like a swat team every time we went out. Can't complain! Brilliant for leisure facilities, have a go on the waterslides, no matter how you are - they're great fun!!
