“Hotel with excellent location & services, will visit again”
This hotel is at the center of Beijing. The English speaking services staff are very friendly and eager to help. we definitely will stay this hotel again when we visit Beijing again.
“pleasant stay, good location, good breakfast, good tour options”
This is a good hotel for travel in and about Beijing. It's clean, spacious enough and has a delicious buffet breakfast (American and Chinese). The hotel staff is very helpful. The tour operator located in the basement arranged our trip to the Great Wall which worked out very well.
“Great Location, Great Service, Great Value”
The hotel was perfectly placed for touring beijing. Just a few minutes walk from the Forbidden City and Tianenmen Square. Wangfujing night market is just two blocks away, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. . The best way to get around is by taxi - they are cheap and plentiful. Just remember to take a card from the hotel to show to the taxi driver. The staff at the hotel were unfailingly helpful and polite. Our room rate did not include breakfast but we ate there anyway - it was good value for a fairly comprehensive buffet. i would definitely stay here again - highly recommended for a visit to Beijing.
“Shocked at how Great”
I have never been to China and only heard stories. When we pulled up I was nervous since I had no recommendation on the hotel and I was taking my family. It was incredible. The people do everything they can to take care of you. It might be the best hotel experience we have ever had including here in the states.
“Stayed an extra night”
This hotel had everything: it was clean, modern, nice restaurant with Chinese and American breakfast buffet, and helpful staff. Probably one of the best features was its location. It was walking distance from the Forbidden City, The Square, parks, and (important for exchanging currency) the Bank of China. My friends and I booked an extra night before leaving China.
“Excellent Hotel”
Very modern and contempory style hotel. We loved it. The location was excellent. The street that the hotel is on leads up to the east wall of the Forbidden City and if you head the opposite way, it's the night market with the food stalls. Only 5 minutes walk to Wangfujing shopping street. Hotel breakfast was good, good choice, both western and chinese food. The room was clean, air conditioner worked well and see through bathroom was cool.
“Good place to stay near the Forbidden City”
I enjoyed my stay very much. The hotel is located a short walk (approximately 10 minutes) from Wangfu Jing in one direction and Tian'an Men in another, however the neighborhood around the hotel is a bit quieter than either location. One of my main objectives was to use the "Old Books" section of the National Library, and while it was a bit of a hike (approximately half an hour) to get to it the walk was along the back of the Forbidden City and the front of Jingshan and Beihai parks and the weather happened to be temperate so really enjoyed the walk. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and my room was quite spacious.
“Boutique hotel in great location”
Despite it's funny name, the Kapok is a sophisticated hotel whose interesting design doesn't sacrifice on comfort. You can see the Forbidden city from its top floors (the East Gate is a block away) and it's very close to the Wangfujing shopping street. It was a great place to decompress and orient ourselves to Beijing after the long journey from the States.
“Awesome hotel, great value!”
We are a family of five traveling with little children. I had planned the trip ambitiously wanting my family to "experience the true local life", and so I made reservations at a Hutong Hotel where the premise is converted from traditional residential Chinese style courtyard houses. Upon arrival, we immediately realized that the conditions at the courtyard hotel was far from satisfactory for our family needs. I had to scramble to find us a nice hotel at a convenient location and reasonable price. After many phone calls, I was lucky enough to find Hotel Kapok on Expedia at a very reasonable price. Going on the reviews it received, I decided to give it a shot. Whe we got to the hotel, it was such a joy to see a clean and upscale hotel with every modern amenity tucked away quietly in the middle of the most touristy part of Beijing. The forbidden city and Wangfujing are both a 5-10 minute walk. The decor is very modern and tasteful. The premise was very clean and professionally maintained. The restaurant was great. We had a suite, and it was very comfortable and gorgeous. Our kids loved it. Definitely two thumbs up for this hotel. I already recommended it to many of my family and friends, and I am doing the same here. I would definitely stay there again provided that they maintain the current pricing--prices in some hotels in Beijing can be rediculous. The only downside of the place is that public transportation is not very easily accessible.
“Ideal holiday hotel”
This hotel is in an excellent location, just a couple of minutes from the Forbidden City in one direction, and a couple of minutes from the major shopping area of Wnagfujin in the other. The nearest subway station is at Tiannamen Square, about 10 minutes walk away. The hotel doesn't look much from the outside, but inside is clean, comfortable, and everything you need for a holiday. The staff were helpful and did everything we asked of. The room itsefl was fine, comfortable and with everything you would expect, including free wi-fi. Not the world's biggest room - but not a problem in any way at all. We didn't have a desk, so I guess if you were on business that may be a problem. I would definately go back here if I were in Beijing again.
