“short break in berlin”
We had a residenz room which was really large and included kitchenette.really comfortable room with plenty of space. Hotel was in a good position next to Check Point Charlie,all the main tourist sights and the underground.For a city location the hotel was really quiet,also there was an excellent restaurant only 100 yards away.
“Very comfortable, pleasant experience”
Very friendly, helpful staff, comfortable, spacious room. One caveat: Upon check-in, the clerk commented that we have one of the nicest rooms (a former apartment, 2 stories with a patio and 2 bathrooms) separate from the main hotel building. Everything about this room was great, but the clerk's comment makes me wonder if that was the exception, so I can't vouch for what the rest of the rooms are like.
“Best location in town”
Loved the Mercure. Large, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, quiet environment, two minutes from U-station StadtMitte, very good restaurants minutes away (especially the Malatesta on Charlotten Strasse and Sale e Tabacchi on Dutschke Strasse). Shopping on Friedrichstrasse around the corner. Would not stay anywhere else in Berlin. And the price was modest.
“Mercure Checkpoint Charlie - excellent hotel”
A really beautiful hotel in the heart of Berlin Amazingly quiet given the city centre location. The communal and private areas were all spotlessly clean. Large selection of excellent food at the breakfast buffet Ideal for wheelchair users. The disabled room is simply HUGE!! The loo/wet room is spacious too. For me the loo was actually set too highlight and was difficult (but not impossible) to get on to however I am 5 foot 4 with bent knees so I am at the "shortie" end of the scale. There were lots of hand rails and a large fold down bench under the shower
“A Hotel with style and good value.”
I had a superb room (large, with entrance lobby, separate shower/washroom and separate toilet). A lot of space including 3 piece suite, tv, twin beds. Although I had a room next to the lift on the 5th floor, it was extremely quiet. The buffet breakfast has to be seen to be believed! Ideally situated round the corner from Checkpoint Charlie and Friedrichstrasse - the 'Oxford Street' of East Berlin. I would certainly use this hotel if I ever return to Berlin.
“Checkpoint Charlie Gem”
We stayed 4 nights in the Mercure at Checkpoint Charlie (500m) and enjoyed this hotel. The staff were most helpful and we loved the Wine Garden. The metro was about 5-10min walk as was some of the main Berlin streets. Would revisit.
“Cosy and well located”
So close to History in such an interesting city... Hard working and helpful staff. Breakfast is expensive if not included in the rate.
“Location, location, location”
First time visitors to Berlin with friends on a 3 night city break and we were not disappointed. The hotel is excellent and typical of a Mercure city hotel. We booked room only because we prefer to have breakfast out in the city. We stayed in Superior Doubles with lots of space and balcony. The hotel is a few hundred yards from Checkpoint Charlie which is a good starting point to understand the once-divided city. Also very close to Gendarmarkt Square where there are plenty of bars and restaurants - the Italian Malatesta is a real gem (best risotto outside of Italy).
“Would definitely stay here again, if returning Berlin!!”
We were thouroughly impressed with this hotel in every aspect. This hotel is conviniently located downtown, within walking distance to the major historical attractions. 1. Great customer service. We were very impressed. 2. The rooms are enormous for a typical European hotel room 3. We booked on Expedia.ca, and got a fantastic rate, which also included breakfat buffet 4. The breakfast buffet was superb. What an enormous selection to choose from. 5. The beds were very comfortable. 6. The staff were very helpful in providing tourist info. 7. Free internet on the computer in the lobby. 8. Parking in basement garage of hotel for only 13 euro per day. 9. Closely located to a great sushi restaurant that is very reasonably priced! 10. Within walking distance to the Jewish Museum Berlin (only 5 euro for entry, and 2.50 euro for students), which is hosting a very educational highly reccomended exhibit about the war called 'Forced Labor' until January 30th for only an extra 2 euro. We would definitely stay here again if we are in Berlin!! Fantastic hotel, and great value overall!
“Great Value for Money”
I grade hotels for a living and the Mercure is excellent. The staff are very attentive, always very pleasant, eye contact, plenty of checks to see if they can help. The room was excellent for 3 guests, although the heating/air conditioning was difficult to get a balance. Great location, near to the U Bahn. There is no restaurant for dinner but the bar menu has enough on it if you are too tired to go out. We didn't take the breakfast inclusive and ate in a local bakery but the breakfast buffet was very large with loads of choice.
