“Shuttle”

We had a family member at UAB and the Shuttle services from the hotel to the hospital was the most wonderful thing ever!

During my husband's recent visit to Birmingham to have tests done and see a doctor, we opted to stay here. We were very please with the shuttle service. We are not familiar at all with the city and the shuttle got us where we needed to be, on time , and with a big smile on his face. The staff at this hotel are all extremely friendly and willing to help you any way they can. If we have to go back to Birmingham this will be our first choice..

“Nice!”

This Hotel is located pretty conveniently to the UAB Medical Campus. The facility is well-kept, comfortable, and clean. The staff is fairly professional. As far as the comfort of the hotel, I give my highest recommendation. The location, however, is in downtown Birmingham, therefore it is a high crime area, and you can feel it. Just be careful and all will be okay, but I would not suggest leaving valuables outside in your vehicle, or wandering around the area late at night. A comment on the shuttle service. It is available, and it is very effective. However, do not expect luxury. When I was there, they used a late 1980s Chevy Astro van that was sufficient in dents, dings, and interior damage. Nothing wrong with that, but like I said, don't expect luxury. Overall I definitely recommend this hotel for business related travel. Leisure would not be the best of recommendation, but it would definitely accommodate that too. Oh yeah, no continental breakfast, and the Waffle House next door DOES NOT operate on high standards AT ALL.

“Adequate personified”

Hotel was worn around the edges but it was adequate for an overnight stay. Recommend staying on side away from Interstate. First room was smoky (although non smoking) but it was changed. Room was stuffy but okay.

“Would probably stay again if I needed to stay in that area.”

The hotel was older, but seemed to be remodeled at some point. Nice and clean. A little loud at night, but it was near the interstate and down town. I needed to be close to UAB and it was within walking distance. Good price.

“Birmingham Room”

Room was very clean. Unfortunately, had to try 3 different keys and 2 rooms to actually get into one. Very loud neighbors made sleeping difficult 1st night.

The hotel and room was clean The key card seldom worked, I had to have them rerun it for me 8 out of 10 times. Staff even checked it. Transportation was pretty good, had to wait sometimes. Once when I had an appointment, they were 90 min. late. One driver was rude. Others ok. Some of the front desk personnel were helpful , some were not. Manager was very nice. It is not in the best area, so you need to exercise caution. We had no poblems with safety.

“It was ok I will be going back in October”

The hotel was fine except for the Waffle House that was attached to it. My husband when to check it out and came back saying that the smell was sickening. There was quite a bit of noise outside of our room late at night but other than that it was ok.

“Not a place you would want to be”

This place was below average. If you just wanna place to spend the night and dont mind the smell, then I would recommend it as it is closer to UAB. However, the rooms are stale, have this smell of not being used in a long time, the carpets stink and the beds r OK except for the sheets that have this weird odor. This place seems to be in bad shape. There is NO breakfast (which was a surprise as other Best Western hotels do have breakfast) and NO airport shuttle. There is a Waffle House attached to the hotel !!! The staff are apathetic and dont care much attitude. The only good thing is they have a shuttle to the medical center. If you need a hotel close to downtown Birmingham or UAB, you will be better off choosing other hotels that are a little more expensive but offer a airport shuttle and better rooms to spend the night. You can save yourself of having an unpleasant night sleeping at this hotel. This place is NO comparison to other Best Western hotels and I think the parent company should do something about continuing to run this under their brand name.
