I was a bit wary on booking this hotel....hotel without a window? What's that all about?
It has very good reviews so I booked it to try it.
Small, compact room that makes the absolute best of its space. Suitcase fitted right under the bed allows you more room.
The longest bed I have ever seen with a state of the art Samsung TV at the bottom of it fitting into the wall.
A choice of ambient lighting to suit your mood includes a clever illusion that you do indeed have a window and it's a sunny day outside.
This place is very well priced (I mean cheap) and is worth every penny.
An added bonus is the location, it is situated around St Pauls Square that has everything if you want to avoid the city centre. If you do want the city centre then it's only 10 minutes away. I will certainly be going back again.
Bloc hotel is located in Birminghams Jewellery Quarter. The village atmosphere created by its cafes-bars and restaurants is …More
Pleasant and relaxing environment. Modern but not eccentric style (I am not a fan of Radisson Blu). Couldn't be any more central, easy access to best restaurants and bars the city has to offer. Generously sized room and bed. Helpful staff. Long queues at check in and check out.
"Wonderful ! Just what an English Hotel should be.."
Arriving late the check-in was friendly, the main lifts were broken but the reception helped me to the room via the service lift which was a nice touch.
Breakfast was perfect, never had better.
It is an old building and a few more internal signs may be helpful, I did get lost on one occasion.
Whilst the location is only a five minute walk from New Street Rail Station it is not so easy to find so best to plot your walking route.
The room was spacious, plenty of plugs, everything worked and the bathroom was nice and big with a great shower.
Altogether a welcome oasis after a grueling journey, it will be my first choice in Birmingham.
Very well appointed hotel in every aspect except that the show is disappointing. The room views (we were 23rd floor) are fabulous. The club lounge facilities are a really nice touch for a pre-dinner drink and leisurely breakfast.
This hotel really is lovely and our stay was fantastic from start to finish. We had a deluxe room and it was spacious and very clean. The king bed was huge and the mini bar and snacks available were all great. The bathroom was the highlight of this room with a huge roll top bath and enormous walk in monsoon shower which nearly knocked me over it was that powerful. The bathroom had a clinical feel about it which was great as I guess it was based on one of the bathrooms from the old eye hospital. We had a front facing room and there was a bit of noise from the front street from passers by late on a Saturday night but nothing to loud or after 12 ish so not so bad. One bad point with this hotel is the lift. It's an old looking open lift shaft and very small inside. Slow going up and down. It got stuck on the way down on one journey and although not in there for more than 5 mins did start to panic. We were on the top floor but when we go again will sure to take the stairs. Apart from that flawless hotel and really impressive for a special occasion. Going to stay here agai ldn and would recommend to anyone.
