Located on the waterfront, Shangri-La hotel, The Marina, Cairns is built within a complex that also offers retail outlets, banking ATMs, restaurants, and gift shops. Three elevators transfer guests across five floors to access 256 guestrooms, a club lounge, full spa services, 16 meeting rooms, and business facilities. Other guest services include concierge, Internet access, dry cleaning, 24-hour room service, currency exchange, and airport transportation. An on-site bar provides light entertainment. A ferry terminal is nearby. Child minding can be arranged upon request.

Guestrooms at Shangri-La hotel, The Marina, Cairns offer balconies with views across the Marina, Esplanade, and mountains. Beds feature Egyptian-cotton sheets and a pillow menu is available. Every guestroom is equipped with a private bathroom, which offers separate baths and showers, with Italian marble vanities and complimentary designer Aigner toiletries. Separate sitting areas are equipped with writing desks and complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet access. 42-inch high-definition LCD TVs have satellite service, including premium channels such as CNN and NHK. Rooms include a phone. Guestrooms are all non-smoking.

North Food & Wine - Located at lobby level, overlooking the Marina, the restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner from early morning till late. Dining includes a buffet breakfast, à la carte lunch menu, and Australasian cuisine for dinner. Japanese buffet is also available. Alfresco dining on the deck offers views of the marina and mountains. Open kitchens allow guests to view chef activity, and the bar serves a selection of wines, beers, spirits, and cocktails, along with light snacks.
Pool Bar - At level one, adjacent to the swimming pool area, the bar provides a range of cocktails, other beverages, and light snacks, from late morning till early evening.
Recreation
Nearby recreational opportunities include the 3-km boardwalk along the Esplanade for walking/jogging, workout areas positioned along the boardwalk, a public saltwater lagoon pool, and an unsupervised children's playground. Aerobics takes place at the Esplanade in outdoor classes, and admission can be arranged through reception. Basketball is available within 1 km of the hotel at the convention facility/stadium, where racquet sports are also available, including squash. Bicycle rentals are available in the city, within 2 km of the hotel.
Marlin Marina, directly outside the hotel, is the pick-up and drop-off area for various water sports activities such as scuba diving and snorkeling, and helicopter sightseeing is also located at the marina, within 200 meters of the hotel. Fishing charters can also be arranged at the marina. A golf driving range is available at Half Moon Bay Golf Course, within 8 km. Hiking/biking trails are at Red Arrow, a mountain walk within 5 km of the hotel.
Bird watching opportunities are available at the Esplanade and also at Centennial Lakes, within 7 km of the hotel. The Botanical Gardens offers a range of walking tracks, and Centennial Lakes includes a boardwalk through swamp areas. The hotel can assist with tours that include horse riding, sky diving, rafting, and canoeing, all within 10 km of the hotel, at Yorkey's Knob and other locations. Tours to the Great Barrier Reef, which is approximately 30 nautical km, or 80 minutes by boat, can also be arranged. Golf is available for nonmembers at the Paradise Palms golf course, located approximately 15 km from the hotel.
Spa
Full spa services are available, including body scrubs and wraps, plus Aromatherapy, Ayurvedic, Thalassotherapy, and facial treatments. Massage is also offered, in indoor treatment rooms or out on the beach. Advanced reservations required for massage or spa.

“Excellent!”
One of the best hotels I've stayed in! The staff were very attentive and the rooms and services within the hotel were to a high standard.
“Fun in the Sun”
Perfect location for boat tours to the Great Barrior Reef. Just across the street. Also just blocks from the town and right on the boardwalk. Room had great views of water. Friendly staff.

“a superb experience”
Excellent experience. View and location perfect. We opted for an upgrade to a suite which included a full breakfast and an evening appy time - well worth it. But, best of all were the staff members. We have never felt so welcomed and comfortable in any hotel in all our travels. All were so pleasant, and seemed genuinely happy, welcoming, and interested in us and our country.

This was a great place to stay! The staff was helpful for the most part. It was nice, clean and in a great location. My favorite part was the bed! SUPER comfortable and super nice linens! After several days of traveling, this hotel was a relief! The only downfall was that the "extras" (i.e. internet) was extremely expensive.
“Outstanding service”
We have just returned from Cairns and a delightful stay at Shangri-la Hotel. The staff were incredible, the room was better than expected and the overall experience was fantastic. We booked a standard type room with excellent discount rates through Expedia and were thrilled to find we received a room with a beautiful view. Nothing was too much for the hotel staff especially the young lady who checked us in. Everyone was friendly and helpful and this enhanced our experience. Thank you Shangri-la and Expedia for a wonderful holiday. Looking forward to returning.

We found the Shang Ri La hotel staff wonderful, extremely helpful and professional. The location was spot on for dining with many options available for any cuisine and is in walking distance to a wide variety of shopping . The hotel is right on the marina with lovely views and our marina view room was spacious and modern.
