“Good hotel for couples and families”
Staff were polite and friendly, especially the cleaning staff and the young lady on the front desk. Our room was very clean with a sofa and spacious. The choice of the buffet breakfast was good, from continental and full English. Get the breakfast with Expedia as it is expensive if booked later with the hotel. The bar food and drinks were good. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms were more than I expected, but my husband was disappointed with the gym (very small). Book your beauty treatments before arrival as they get booked very quickly, therefore could not have a treatment (I did ring them to book a treatment before departing London but was put on hold by a male member of the spa staff and was forgotten about, and heard all their conversation for 10 mins, the call cost me 10p a minute. Lots of car park space (free). Bus stop to Cambridge centre was 8 minute walk and the Citi 8 bus went straight to the heart of Cambridge (15-20 mins). Lovely place to bring young kids as it has an outside area with slides etc... Overall my husband and I had a good experience and would go again.
“Good value on a special offer!”
There was nothing wrong with the hotel, but if I'd paid full price it would have been quite expensive.
“Ian's Review”
This hotel is quite adequete but a bit expensive for a basic bed and breakfast. The onsite bar is also very expensive for what you get and they don't have a very good selection of beers. They only have Stella, Guiness, Carling etc ;the basic beer you can get anywhere. When I goto a new area I want to try the beers which are made in that place and not have the same old beer you can get anywhere. For food and drink I would recommend leaving the Villiage of Histon which is about a mile away. Also, watch out for the address tha expedia give to you, it is wrong. I wasted an hour looking for this hotel in the wrong place.
“Holiday Inn Cambridge”
Excellent service in very comfortable Hotel. The Leisure Centre was superb. Quality of room including beds was very high. Breakfast's delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff. Although some way from the town centre the hotel is still good value.
“Clean with good service.”
Great hotel, I had issues with the internet service and the staff was not able to help. I was charged 15 pounds a day for this service and it never worked consistently. All else was great.
“Got on A deal so didn't complain but ...”
We had a standard room, booked on a "secret" deal. The room was spacious and clean but the furniture was shabby and the towels were small and very thin. There was a tea making tray but it was rather miserly and did not include biscuits. The public areas of the hotel were very pleasant, with a nice looking pool and play area. The breakfast was reasonably priced and very good. Overall we got what we paid for but I would have been very disappointed had well paid full price.
“disappointing”
The hotel reception staff seemed rather indifferent in their approach, got the impression they would have rathered not to be there, or perhaps not at Christmas time; the most disappointing aspect of the stay was the poor quality of the food; spa facilities and pool were excellent, nice and warm environment for the children
“Good in parts...”
This hotel has a very convenient location, just on the north side of the A14 north of Cambridge city centre (I didn't want to visit the city centre). I was surprised at how busy the hotel was: it seemed to be popular with groups, conferences or training sessions. It has good amenities - like a sports club and spa - and courtyards, even a small play area for children. But, on the downside, I found the reception desk to be slow, and the hotel had poked the wrong bill under my guest room door: the correct name and my room number but the wrong address and the wrong billing details. Then there was the bed: too narrow, and free-standing on rollers so it moved if you tried to sit up and read - very annoying. Lastly, the bar staff seemed to have to deliver any meals ordered in the bar / lounge area; and that meant they had to leave the bar unattended while customers were queuing up for drinks. The staff were friendly, but I felt there were some organisational issues that needed to be resolved.
“rip off poor quaity”
Im suprised this hotel keeps its HI franchise old tired building no elevators to upper floors food quality poor plus £5 per hour internet rip off do not stay here !!!
