“Thankyou, Terracaribe... and your staff*****.”
This is a gem of a hotel for those who are travellers and not the all inclusive wristband brigade. It does not pretend to be on the beach with Margaritas on tap at stupid prices rather it is in Downtown Cancun amidst the local people where you can enjoy real Mexican food. Within walking distance there are local markets, Immediately across the road is a gas station where you can buy beer, soft drinks and plenty of snacks. The coffee machine in there is brilliant. Buses are available just across the road. Taxi fares are cheap but agree the price first. The restaurant, driven by consumer demand closes during the off season. You still get breakfast. What more do you want from a Hotel that is inexpensive, immaculately clean with staff at all levels prepared to accommodate the slightest of your whims. At the front desk you will meet Veronica and her husband with Jemma on the other shift. These are the loveliest of people with a mine of assistance and information. They come no better than them and their staff! We retuned yesterday, 30th January 2012, from the Terracaribe and we have travelled the world and found very few places that can compare with the quality and the price. We have seen others in these reviews who have criticised the Terracaribe. We can only assume that their reviews were writtten before the hotel had its full make-over or that they were in the wrong hotel!! We are cynics and what we see is what you get. The Terracaribe is great!
“Cancun away from the Disney Strip”
It's not that hard to get to. Just take the ADO bus from the airport to the downtown bus terminal which is a lot cheaper than a taxi from that distance and it's fairly efficient. From the bus station to the hotel was about 45 pesos by taxi. We were using Cancun as a transit point to get to Merida and Progreso since the airfares are a lot cheaper. The hotel was very clean and the staff extremely helpful.
“A great place!”
I think this was a really great hotel! You get what you pay for and so much more. A friendly and helpful staff. Pool and Jacuzzi. It is outside of the hotel zone, but you can get there easily with the local bus, cabs and it is close to the bus station. There is a small mini market on the other side of the street, and a few local places where you can eat only a few meters away.
“Alberto”
Great place, great price. There is an amazing smoothies place few blocks, on that side of the street, past the Oxxo. Loved it!
“EXCELLENT, CLEAN, COMFORTABLE VALUE ACCOMODATIONS”
This is not a resort or "luxurious" hotel by any means, but it has a lot of character...excellent, helpful staff...it is exceptionally clean (I mean sparkling)...and it has some cute features (rooftop terrace, hot tub, open-air courtyards). It is a quiet and relaxing environment away from all the noise of the tourist areas but a quick/cheap bus ride away...very basic accomodations, but then again, when you're in Cancun what do you need a whole lot for in a hotel...you should be out enjoying all that greater-Cancun has to offer and only be in the hotel to sleep and shower to get ready for your next great adventure! There is a gas station right across the street if you need snacks (the hotel does have a restaurant, but unfortunately we didn't utilize this ammenity except to get some hotcakes to go one morning). Please know that you won't be on the beach (again a quick, cheap bus ride away), but you are close to downtown restaurants, markets, etc. I would stay here again and would recommend to anyone who wants a more "authentic" experience.
“Lovely”
Lovely Downtown Cancun Hotel. It has a helpful staff and a nice pool. The sun deck on top of the tower is worth visiting during the day as well as the night for its panoramic view. Two blocks east from Bus Route 1 that will take you to and from the Hotel Beach Zone. Six blocks east from the heart of Downtown Cancun. If prefer the local atmosphere rather the tourist area, this is a good option.
“GREAT VALUE!!!”
We loved this hotel. The room was brand new and immaculately clean!!! Also, the hotel personnel were very courteous and helpful. The grilled fish with garlic at the hotel resturant was one of the best meals I have ever tasted. If you're looking for a place to get the true flavor of Mexico, this is a wonderful hotel.
“delightful suprise!”
This quaint hotel offers a quiet, clean and very hospitable night stay. The staff is cheerful and helpful. The pool is lovely and the restaurant offers great choices at very reasonable prices. There is also a small bar on site. The shuttle from the hotel to the airport was a very reasonable price, too!
“Great Boutique Hotel!”
We were very impressed at the quality of this reasonably priced boutique hotel. The staff was excellent, very helpful - the room was super clean. We liked the onsite restaurant and the great food. We appreciated the late-night airport pickup (on time) and the accomodating driver. Another thing we liked was the interior courtyard with tables and chairs for meeting other tourists. One thing we liked about the location was that it was only a 20 minute walk (or a 5 minute taxi ride) to the harbour to take the ferry to Isla Majeures.
“Good place to stay”
We like this place, and the price! We stayed here at the beginning and end of our month-long trip, and would book it again. There is a large pool, and a pleasant courtyard with tables, chairs, and unbrellas for hanging out. The restaurant in the hotel is good. We had chicken and fish for dinner, and the breakfast buffet is varied. The restaurant was closed on Sunday, but there are open-air places featuring seafood about two blocks toward the beach that we loved.
