“Best Cape Stay Ever!!!”
This hotel met many of our requirements: Easy access to the beach? check! They are located right on the beach and ! I was out there at 5:30am enjoying my coffee every morning. Reasonably priced? check!, The hotel's decour etc. is dated and simple, not luxurious (i.e., no WiFi in the room, no food room service available) but it is very clean and spacious and rates offers a very good value for your dollar. Cleanliness? check! Our room was clean and well equipped, only things missing was an iron and ironing board and WiFi in the room, but I guess I should be thankful, after all I was supposed to be on vacation! Courteous, efficient and friendly staff? Check, check, check! Very helpful and solicitous staff. Offered and provided a tour of the facility and suites. Easy check in / check out? Check! Would I consider returning? DOUBLE CHECK!; recommend to others? Yeah to the CHECK!
“Not for "5 Star Hunters" but quaint and lovely all the same....”
Admittedly, I booked this hotel with some hesitance and trepidation given all the negative reviews I had read. The price was too good to pass up...and frankly what could be THAT bad about being beach-side in the Cape? First of all, you will be hard-pressed to find a hotel right on the water that does not have some "smell issues" of some sort. Traditionally, these ocean-side homes are victims to salt air, mold spores and moisture issues because of their proximity to the water. Not to mention, any time you have decades of wet feet walking on carpets...you are bound to create odor problems. It's a fact of life in any seaside environment so if you have a real problem with a slight moisture smell....do not go here. Upon arrival, I was amazed by how clean and kempt the grounds were. Beautiful gardens, sea grass....gorgeous lawns all greeted me. I was even more captivated when I noticed that Ocean Mist sits RIGHT on the beach. The views are incredible, the beach is clean and well groomed and the hotel provides durable lounge chairs for guests. It is nestled on the fringe of a very quaint neighbourhood filled with traditional Cape cottages, lovely restaurants, parks and beaches...and is located a mere 5 minute drive to the "main drag" of South Yarmouth. Parking is free, the lot is large and you can conveniently unload you car. The rooms were definetely outdated but the linens were crisp and clean, the shower was great, the staff was lovely and we loved every minute of it. GREAT!
“The Pictures Don't Do it Justice”
I don't understand why this place got some bad reviews. I was so happy I went to a place with its own personal beach. Was so worth it considering the affordability. Plus the rooms themselves are much nicer than the pictures showed. They have a kitchenette which I wasn't expecting. As far as I'm concerned this summer has started a tradition for me at the Ocean Mist. Highly recommend, especially for couples and young people.
“Beautiful setting..room care excellent”
The hotel room itself was dated but kept very clean. Enjoyed long walks on the beach and indoor pool. Basic...
“A great family hotel on the beach”
We just returned from a three night stay at the Ocean Mist. This was a return trip and as wonderful as we remembered. A great family hotel. The bi-level loft provides extra room for a family and the view outside is of the Sound. The beach is as close as going downstairs and out the door. Calm water for swimming and shell collecting. A grocery store a few blocks down the road. A bit dated but kept super clean. The indoor pool and hot tub are clean and open convenient hours. Washer and Dryer on site. Close to minigolf great restaurants (Hearth N Kettle and Skippers were particularly good) There is a playground overlooking the water a short walk down the road. The negative reviews almost kept me from booking but as a mom looking for a family friendly hotel found all we could have wanted at the Ocean Mist. Front desk was super helpful and check in with Expedia was as easy as going to the desk and saying we were there. If you are looking for fancy and new this might not be a great choice, if you are looking for comfort and easy access to the beach where you can listen to the water as you are in the room look no further.
“very nice for price we paid”
Nice big rooms, located right on the ocean with a private beach. Would stay there again.
“Nice Old Style Motel -- Great for Families”
The place is a large 2 story motel located on a beautiful stretch of beach. Coffee is available in the lobby but no breakfast. The wifi was down but we were directed to an inn down the road and were able to get access there for free. There's a small indoor pool and hot tub which we didn't use. We had a loft room which was much bigger than we needed but would be great for a family. It had a slight musty smell but was clean. Lots of space. 2 large closets. 2 TVs. 2 Double beds and 2 sofa beds. The room had a small fridge. Based on the cars in the parking lot, the motel was busy the night we were there but it was quiet.
“Awesome for families with little ones”
We arrived after 3 days of downpour in Boston and it was seriously a breath of freshair! We had a loft room and my daughter could run around like crazy (she's 3) and I went and did laundry from all of our clothes that had gotten soaking wet. The woman behind the desk had quarters for the machines and recommended a local place for us to get takeout (since I was working on the laundry) and gave me directions then recommended another fabulous place for my husband and I to go out the next night. The beach was small and there was very little surf which was great for my daughter. My husband took her back to the room for lunch and then came back when they were done. It was so convenient. We are definitely going back in the future!
“Great Place!”
Our recent stay was wonderful. Our room was lovely and very clean. Loved being able to step out of the room and see the ocean!
“Wonderful for families wanting the beach on a budget”
Very happy upon checkin. The loft room is worth the money (off season rates)as we had two balconies and a separate area with another tv. Kitchen is sparse but bring a packed cooler and you are good to go. Staff was friendly. Room was clean - older but clean. The room could have slept 8! The indoor pool was great for the kids -the beach is great for morning coffee and end of the day sitting. The kids had a blast and we drove up to Nat'l Seashore and Chatham for beach days. A gem. The double balcony and cathedral ceilings have me sold on this one. Great stay! I don't think the website photos do this place justice.
