“Excellent hotel”
A lovely "boutique" hotel at a very reasonable cost with a lot of amenities! We would definitely go back.
“Great find!!”
Excellent facility! Beautifully renovated old factory. Our room was especially delightful with a loft for the second bed. Nice afternoon wine and cheese and lovely breakfast. Conveniently located very near Market Street. Convenient parking.
“Great Place to Stay”
Our room was large, beautifully appointed, with a big bathroom. It was right on the street, but we never heard a sound from cars or pedestrians. The free continental breakfasts were excellent: fresh fruit, breads, pastries, hot & cold cereals, coffee, tea and juice - all kept well stocked. The wine and cheese in the evenings were average quality and tended to run out quickly. The view from the rooftop lounging area was of the port, which is industrial, but it was still a nice little spot to have wine/cheese. The inn is located on the outer edge of the historic district, so you'll do a little walking, but that's just how it is in Charleston. All in all, a very nice place to spend the weekend.
“Very nice hotel”
Very nice hotel.
“Twitterpated”
I loved this hotel! This hotel just had lots of character. The building is an old paper warehouse and clearly the owners took the care to build out a hotel/experience that retained the old world strength and character of the building. This core ambience is cast by brick, very large wooden beams, and hundreds of old country oil paintings. Front desk staff was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and pointing us to tourist activities and locations in the Charleston area. I think I read somewhere that someone said the hotel is 'far' from the historical area. I'm not sure what destination they were implying because the hotel is just ~2 blocks from market street and ~3 blocks from the Fort Sumter boat terminal. It is not in the center of Market Street or Antique row but with all this character and the price point; it was a spectular choice. Only slight negative is that the continental breakfast was a little weak as continental breakfasts go. Also the roof patio, while nicely constructed; doesn't have an engaging view (or bartender). I would definitely stay here again.
“Great Location in downtown!”
The hotel was really nice, rustic with exposed wood beams, we loved the architecture of the building and it is located in the middle of down town Charelston. We walked to most of the down town sites from the hotel. The Aquarium was right down the road. When we arrived there was a mix up with our room and they upgraded us to a larger room with no issues to accomidate us and our 2 childen. The King suite with sleeper sofa was huge and more than enough room for the 4 of us. There was a 24 hour grocery store right next door for any extra needs. The free breakfast was good enough to fill you up but, very very limited. Free wine and cheese from 5 to 6 pm was a nice touch also. Over all, we were very happy with our stay.
“Weekend get away”
Awesome hotel. Great staff. Great location. Neat rooms. Will go back again, again, and again!
“"Very Impressed"”
Loved it. Great atmosphere. Rustic Inn/Warehouse. Very large rooms, high ceilings, clean. Couple of blocks north from the market in historic Charleston. You can walk to just about anyplace in the historic district. Not for the budget minded on the weekend, but priced very well during the week - especially for a very nice Charleston Hotel. Unfortunately, like most hotels in the area they charge 20.00 a day for parking. Wish these hotels would offer free parking during your stay.
“Stay here, you won't be sorry!”
We had a hard time deciding, but glad we chose this one after walking past the others. The huge windows offer privacy and light, the place was safe and clean, and the extras (free wifi, cookies, cheese, breakfast) made this a good choice. If you have time, visit the Vegetable Bin on Society St and try to meet Billy Leonard, a WWII vet and great guy. Also, don't miss Hyman's if you like reasonably priced, delicious fried seafood. Mercato was so-so, tough veal. South End Brewery has good pizza and nice architecture. Fleet Landing was good, but service was spotty. Taco Boy has good, cheap food and some interesting looking drinks. The building facade across from the hotel is an old rice mill, a neat photo with the Ravanel bridge in the background. Take bicycles if you can, driving is a pain and you can walk all day for 3 days and still not see everything. The Charleston Museum has a very neat collection, especially if you are interested in archaeology. Fort Moultrie is neat, inexpensive and next to a small beach on Sulllivan's Island. Charleston is a wonderful place for adults, people were so friendly and helpful.
“Excellent Stay!”
While the Inn is not directly in the center of Charleston, it is within a 2-3 minute walking distance of the market. We loved the staff, our room, and the breakfast. Another site classifies this Inn as a bed and breakfast, but the breakfast is more of a large continential spread. Delicious though!
