“Fantastic alternative to a motorway lodge”
Travelling south on the M6 we simply wanted somewhere to stay overnight, not far from a junction. For the same price as a standard room in a travelodge without breakfast, Cranage Hall provided a contemporary, yet comfortable environment, with swimming pool and fitness centre, one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever seen, all included. Best of all, we had an unexpected complimentary bottle of wine in our room, part of the Spring Break package. The staff were amazingly freindly and helpful. Will def stay there again.
“Friendly staff & good service”
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful - the hotel cuts an impresive appearance both outside and in - with only the bed rooms a bit basic but nonetheless comfortable and functional - overall very satisfied with the stay.
“Good but not great”
We enjoyed our short stay bur as in any conference hotel individual guests were slightly overwhelmed by the others.Rooms could have been anywhere but food and leisure facilities were good.
“Nice location, lovely building, christmas parties noisey!”
clean, tidy and functional double room, bed was a bit hard for my liking, but i'm fussy! Used the leisure facilities which were nice and clean. Changing rooms are nice. My only moan was that the number of christmas parties that were going on in the function rooms, created lots of drunken 'people' to be polite, who decided to make lots of noise near the bedrooms, even run down the corridors banging on all the doors, til about 5am! The staff did their best to control and apologised the next morning. It wasn't the hotel's fault. But I'd think about booking here during Christmas party season again. Any other time, I wouldn't hesitate.
“Would recommend this hotel”
Nice people. Great price. Good fitness facility ( this is why I chose this over others in the area.
“Look at your bill.”
It is nice place to stay. The only issue I've had was problem with my bill. Booking was made by expedia and paid there unfortunately I have been charge twice. I called them back and they return my money. Apart from that no issues.
“Mixed Emotions”
The first night we where there we called reception to book a taxi into one of the local towns. The taxi arrived on time but the driver was rude and expensive (told a potential client he was fully booked, when i queried our return journey was hold he wasn't fully booked but didn't like the sound of the guy & that we wouldn't need to book him didn't offer me a card because there are 'loads' of taxi's around - this wasn't the case. He then charged us 29% more than the return fayre which was also after midnight) We ended up using Tulloch private hire to get back who was much friendlier, I have taken his card for next time we are in the area as we have family up there. That night we had 2 fire alarms go off at 4.40am and again at 6.30am the first we where told was a person smoking in their room. By the time we got up again for the second (to their credit) we had had an apology letter through the door for the 1st alarm unfortunately this told us it was a fault with the system. Again we where told that the alarm was going off because of someone smoking in their room. Tired & cranky I did not appricate that they couldn't agree why the alarms where going off. The breakfast quality was not something to rave about and was another disappointment. At this point I was not looking forward to the wedding we where there for but I was pleaseantly suprised. It was like staying in 2 completely different hotels, the food was good, the staff where excellent & couldn't fault a thing.
“Not Cheshire's finest”
This hotel is more suitable for function/ business guests. It is not orientated towards families. Most of the rooms are in extensions to the old part of the hotel. The twin room I had was quite big and adequately furnished but looking a bit tired compared to many other hotels. There was no full length mirror which we ladies need to use when attending a function. For the amount of money the hotel charges, it is pretty mean with the hospitality tray and the toiletries. There were no biscuits, hot chocolate and no de-caf. There were only three little bottles of toiletries: no shower cap, no cotton wool, nothing else. The worse part of this hotel was the breakfast. There were not enough staff on duty and they were absolutely clueless about serving and remembering orders. The breakfast itself was a buffet and most of it was dried out and lukewarm. It took over 20 minutes for someone to replenish the scrambled eggs. The tomato sauce dish remained empty. There was only one toaster with a huge queue. For a 4 star hotel, toast should have been provided at the table. Breakfast was really a diappointing affair. Overall, I thought it was an expensive hotel for the facilities and quality of service received.
“OK, Food expensive and poor”
Stayed here with work many times, it’s a nice hotel, rooms adequate, gym ok, a bit small, car parking can be a problem. The main criticism is the food, its expensive and poor, you would expect much better for the price, really are taking advantage of the location and no competition.
“Okay - business hotel primarily”
Okay place, staff need more training on customer service. Asked for quiet room, didnt get one, we were on a corridor with a conference party and they were having a good time into the very early hours. Asked next morning if there were any quieter areas and was told to pack up all our belongings, leave on bed and we would be moved whilst we were out for the day. Came back quite late, receptionist had no idea what I was talking about, our stuff was still packed on the bed in original room. Couldnt be bothered moving about at that time so just put up with it another night. Food was nice, breakfast in particular was good.
