“Hotel Estela Sitges a great cultured experience”
Excellent hotel. Great location yards from beach and marina with 10 - 15 min walk to the center of Sitges. Service was impeccable and the artwork adds a great dimension to the stay.
“Less emphasis on art and more on service would help”
Estela is a beautiful concept - a hotel by a nice beach and a wonderful marina - filed with art and beautiful things... Unfortunately, there is far too much emphasis on art, and not nearly enough on service: - aircon struggled to get our room below 29 deg C - even in the night - the rooms were clean, but taps dripped, sinks didn't empty, there are no toiletries apart from a wall-mounted dispenser of some sort of combined shampoo/shower gel. The shower is just an over-bath sort with no shower curtain so the bathroom gets wet. - swimming pool is nice but no towels - small worn pink towels are available from reception which is a long walk away, but they don't fit any of the recliners and you're charged EUR17 if you don't take them back to reception - restaurant service unfriendly and chaotic, with limited breakfast choice if you want a hot breakfast (scrambled egg, bacon, hot dog sausage) - in room safe needs a key rather than electronic - stairs everywhere (ok it is built on a hill) Perhaps we were hoping for too much - it could be great, but it is really a 3 star hotel.
“Great location, let down by complacent service and basic hygiene standards.”
Standard of this hotel is 3*. Whilst it has a perfect location overlooking a small beach, what lets it down is its general standard of cleanliness and finish. For example our room was filthy, and the floor was not cleaned throughout our stay. The wardbobe door, the hob, and the safe were all broken. Mediocre breakfast, but poor service. Its worth going for the location alone, but we felt this was very poor value for money, as regular travellers to Spain.
