“beautiful pool, beach”
we actually swamin the sea and not in the pool, but the pool looks wonderful and those in it appeared to be enjoying themselves. Nice location, nice beach. Seems they may have trucked in sand, as their sand was finer and had fewer stones than other hotel beaches. "All inclusive" means every drink or ice cream you want is already paid for by you. HUGE buffet lunch and dinner is for every guest. So if you want to drink a lot and eat a lot at lunch, go for the all inclusive. If you want to be swimming, snorkeling or diving, windsurfing, etc., 'all inclusive' probably means paying for more than you will be getting. Drink prices for those of us with non- inclusive rates were double those at other hotels.
“A civilised haven in the heat”
I spent six days at the Dahabeya in June 07 while the temperature hovered around 40-42C. The hotel was clean and well-run, the air-conditioning very effective and the rooms well-appointed and well-maintained. The staff were helpful and responsive. If you are staying half-board rather than all-inclusive, you have to pay for water at meals (but not tea or coffee), which is a little irritating. The buffet dinners international cuisine can be a little bland, and if you get there late the main course will be mostly gone.
“Pick your room carefully!!”
We had a family room which was all that was available. We were at the front of the hotel with no view and a long way from the pool. The rooms facing the pool looked better. Our room was very basic and the children's beds were rock hard. There are no baths in this hotel (only showers) except ion the suites. The hotel was not cheap enough to be so basic. At this price I would have expected more.
“Interesting stay”
Overall, the pool is nice, the food is okay, loved the beach but the staff is way to flirtation with single women. I didn't enjoy being called "Habibi" which means my love in Arabic. Not to mention they were always trying to sell you stuff while you were relaxing at the beach or pool. My biggest problem at this resort was the fact that most of the guests were there on an all inclusive package and I was not. Every time I went to get a drink or order food, I was told I couldn't have it because I wasn't all inclusive. I kept telling them to bill my room but they would not do this until I was arguing with them. Plus when you do add things to your room they do not have a computer system in place to charge you. This means you get a million bill ticket receipts and can not have a tab. Also on the last morning at the resort I was not allowed to purchase and add items to my bill because it would not be able to be added to my room in time.
