“Nice little hotel on the far side of St. Stephen's Green”
It was a quaint little hotel on the far side of St. Stephen's Green. I wouldn't have been able to find it on my own, luckily a friend from the area knew exactly where it was. Easy enough to get to town Grafton St. from there. I really enjoyed my stay. If you have loads of luggage, hope you're on the 2nd floor because there are only steps.
“Great location for people to stay”
Great room, great location, and the biggest bathroom I have ever had in a room. The only drawback was the television in the room was broken. The staff offered a new room, but that one was smaller and wasn't worth the exchange. The room we stayed in was on the first floor. 72 hours without a television was a blessing. My wife and I were able to plan the events for the next day when the time would usually be reserved for the television. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. The typical continental breakfast which is a great way to start the day. We would tell anyone thinking of staying in Dublin to stay there without a second thought.
“Nice enough for the price”
My mom and I stayed two nights at the Leeson because it was the cheapest hotel we could find in the area. The location is great, within walking distance to almost everything. We arrived early and the people at the desk let us drop off our bags, which was a big relief. My only complaints have to do with maintenance. The door handle broke off every time we pulled on it, and the bathroom sink was really, really plugged. Since we didn't spend that much time at the hotel, it didn't really matter. Save the money to spend doing things in the city instead of sitting at a fancy hotel!
“Good hotel for travelers who don't want lots of frills”
Good hotel in a great location near St Stephens Green and lots of good restaurants. Staff are very helpful and the hotel was clean. Not a good hotel for kids. The walls are thin and you can hear people walking up the stairs.
“Irish experience”
I usually stay in 4 star hotels. I wanted to save money while visiting Dublin so I selected a hotel based on price and location. I have to say I was very happy with the location. There was a bus stop near by so I could go anywhere I wanted with ease and a great pub across the street! The hotel is small and not fabulous but I loved it because it was very European. It was old and not overly decorated but I liked the old windows that looked over a typical Irish street. I was comfortable and the bed was very comfortable. If you want something modern and American you wont like this hotel but if you want something quaint and authentic you will love it!
“Close to city centre”
Ten minutes walk through St. Stephen's Park to the city centre. Avoid booking a room at the front on a Saturday night as ervery late night reveller walking south seems to pass below your window between midnight and 4am.
“Quaint Inn”
The room was very small for 2 people. no room to put the luggage or unpack clothes. No elevator so it was a pain lugging luggage up 4 flights of stairs. Room and bath were clean. we had continental breakfast included in the price which consisted of cereal, crossaint, fruit, and juice/coffee/tea. the other types of breakfasts are extra cost. The location was okay. just south of Stephen's Green. The walking wasn't too bad to get to the attractions. The biggest problem we had was the noise outside at night. there was a late-night club down below and we would hear all the clubbers leaving at 3-4am and were loud. The window as fixed in the up position which we needed b/c the room was stuffy, so could hear the people and traffic outside.
“Disappointing”
Hotel looked lovely from outside and room, although very small, was painted in nice colours and had a comfortable bed. However, there was no hot breakfast on offer before 8am and on the first morning it was white sliced bread and cornflakes only. The second morning at least there was yoghurt and brown bread too. Not really a continental breakfast! Shower (tiny) took over 10 minutes to run warm water in the morning. TV was very small and high on the wall - very difficult to see. Only two Irish, one German and one Arabic(?) chanel offered. Each morning there was a deluge of water pouring from a doorway on the first floor. I only mention these because I feel I paid a lot of money for this hotel and it certainly didn't wasn't worth the cost. However, the limited contact I had with hotel staff was pleasant and the two taxis which they booked for me arrived on time. I return to Dublin later in the year but will now book a different hotel.
“Not impressed.”
Staff was not responsive or helpful. Room was clean, but extremely warm. A good bargain and location. I would recommend it for a short stay, but don't expect much from staff.
“Would not recommend”
This hotel is listed as having car parking facilities. On arrival we were directed to a small yard which held a maximum of 2 cars. If we needed access we would have to ask for the key and my car key had to be held by reception. Our room was on the 4th floor, there was no lift and we were offered no help in getting our cases up 4 flights of stairs. The receptionist was more interested in training her colleague than helping us. We couldn't carry our cases up 4 flights of stairs and the room was very small and basic. We decided to look for alternate accommodation (which we found) and when we told the receptionist she didn't offer any apology, try to find us another room or offer help with the cases. In fact her reaction was quite indifferent to our situation. I definately wouldn't stay at this hotel nor recommend to anyone other than perhaps students who are happy to 'rough it' and climb up and down flights of stairs.
