“Nearly Perfect - Rated 5 despite a small complaint”
The hotel is a luxury to us. Friendly staff and spot on service. Me and my hubby absolutely loved our room for the 2 nights staying. We were upgraded to a deluxe room (room 444) from a guest room I booked. That was a beautiful room with all the luxury features eg. extra dressing room area, high ceiling, golden flower wall paper, crystal chandeliers, Electric controlled air conditioning, good branded toiletries, and it has a view of the Princess street (only a bit). We also tried the hotel swimming pool which was great even thought it was hard to get to due to the construction work undergoing inside. Only one complaint: the hotel car park was not usable(which was not advised beforehand) due to the refurbishing work. We had to find a nearby car park (NPC?)recommended. For 1 day 5 hrs parking it cost £30.50 included a 25% discount given by the hotel. That was annoying though we had expected it expensive to park in the Edinburgh city. Maybe that is why we got a free upgrade of the room. The best way to do, if you have time, is to utilise the free evening on-street parking between 6:30pm-8:30am. Or, simply not taking your car to Edinburgh. But that is not feasible for people like us need to go out about and have the car parked during the day. You may find it cheaper to take a Taxi or just have a walk in the city. Other than the above, the hotel is superb and we would consider bringing our little one back as kids stay free in the hotel. Hope my review helps someone.
“City Break”
The service in reception was warm and friendly and we received a complimentary upgrade. All in all a very pleasant experience - would definitely recommend this hotel.
“UPDATED OLD FASHIONED ELEGANCE”
I had been upgraded from a good room to a magnificent one. Decor restrained, elegant, comfortable, restful. The staff were attentive, cheerful and friendly but not overbearing. The pool was very pleasant, if a bit warm for my taste, but what 99% of British swimmers prefer. My only complaint was that the hot water in the shower was less than expected, which I did report. I know there is some upgrading going on concurrently, and this may have impacted. My only other negative observation would be that there are no in-house parking facilities, so one is forced to use the Castle car park which is a total rip-off. Imagine paying over £20 for a car parked at approximately 0200 in the morning and retrieved at approximately 0930, after an hotel 20% discount has been applied? This is something which should be discussed with the city godfathers, I believe.
“lovely stay even with refurbishment ongoing”
the hotel was still under refurbishment ,the pompadour restaurant was closed and the reception had scaffolding on the staircase, however we were aware of this when we booked and it did not spoil our stay. we were upgraded(without asking) on arrival and the restaurant where we had breakfast was beautiful,so was not too disappointed.the staff were very helpful both on reception and in the restaurant.i would like to stay here again when all the refurbishment is finished to see the hotel at its best.
“Outstanding!”
When we booked 'The Caley' for a night in Edinburgh we were advised that there was 'extensive renovation work' in progress. This was barely noticeable (and wouldn't have known of any work had I not visited the bar). We were given a free upgrade to a deluxe room which was absolutely gorgeous! The hotel could not have been cleaner! Eveery mirror and surface was absolutely spotl;ess! Fantastic staff too! Absolutely faultless!!! The only problem I could possibly pick up on was the tram works which started at 7am on the Sunday morning, but this is of course nothing to do with the hotel!!!
“Already booked another trip!”
Absolutely fantastic, although the corridors seemed a little warn the rooms were superb! 5 minute walk to the castle and virtually in the grounds of Princes Street Gardens, you couldn't want more! I've stayed in several so called "5 Star" hotels but this really was one! The staff were so helpful - I wasn't treated differently as an expedia guest - as is sometimes the case! I've already booked to go back in a few weeks time. Since its a Hilton you know what your getting - service and class!
“Look forward to another visit.”
Overwhelmed by courtesy of staff and the whole character of the hotel. Everything was excellent and rooms were outstanding. Would have loved a longer stay. Enjoyed the experience very much.
“Fantastic view and location”
Overall rating of the hotel services was exemplary.
“Lovely”
This is a geat hotel. We were upgraded for a special occasion , and the deluxe room was absolutely gorgeous. Great central location with lovely views of the castle, especially at night. Great breakfast, kept us going all day. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
“Hilton Edinburgh Caledonian Review”
I stayed at this hotel for two nights and it was simply excellent! Great Location, service, food, and the room size is surprisingly large!
