“Solid choice”
It's easy to write about what this place doesn't have, and it doesn't have bells and whistles, nor a continental breakfast, even. But it has clean, quiet rooms at a great price, friendly, efficient, professional staff who obviously take their jobs seriously, and a nice location. It's within easy walking distance of Flagstaff's famous downtown, there's a find bar & grill ("Granny's") across the street from it, and a good-looking diner about a block away. I haven't tried the diner, but I give Granny's a thumb's up. And a thumb's up to Highland Country Inn, too.
“very satisfied”
a bit more expensive then the cheapest, but quiet and comfortable.
“Great clean and quiet room for the price”
The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet in deed...The staff/owners were very nice in deed...Thank you
“Good inexpensive hotel”
This is a good hotel for the money. There's nothing fancy about it-just a cheap, clean hotel with a good location. It is far enough from the train tracks that train noise did not bother me while I slept. It is close enough to the downtown area that we walked for all of our meals. The free wi-fi is faster than I am used to at hotels and easy to connect to. It seems to be family run and all the employees were very nice. I would stay here again.
“Worth It.”
I stayed there one night. The room was big, quiet, clean and the people were friendly.
“Great Hotel for the price”
The hotel was a great price. We could hear the trains at night but for me I only heard them the first night. There was a busy road close by but in our room we did not hear the noise unless an emergency vehicle had sirens on. The room was clean and well stocked. It was great having a refigerator in the room and a microwave oven. I did not like their pillows (too flat) but there was a Walmart close by and I bought a pillow there and used it the rest of the time. I just left it behind. It was worth the price. I would recommend this hotel for a great low cost hotel.
“Cozy, Clean and Quiet”
Stayed March 25 and 26. Check-in took about a minute and a half. Reception was friendly. Room had a fridge and microwave. Lots of cable channels. Room was one of the cleanest I have been in anywhere. Other reviews mention train noise, I heard none. Easy drive to Grand Canyon and about 1/4 the price of hotels there. I highly recommend the Highland Country Inn and will stay again when I visit the area.
“Best Stay on the Trip”
I chose this inn for its location, which is a 15-minutes walk to the Amtrak Station. The reception was extremely considerate to allocate me a room on the ground floor when I mentioned I have big luggages, with 2 ladies and a child. He also addressed my concern and gave me a number to call for taxi service if I needed it, cos I am leaving for the station in the dark. With the North Arizona University located nearby, the area is really traveller-friendly. Highland Country Inn blends well as a great item on the Route 66. Do spend a day at this historical location. There's a cafe just next door on its left, with a good crowd at breakfast. We ate at Dara Thai too, which has many indisputable accolades for its cuisine. No unnecessary pomp but sincere service at the inn, and the eateries. When I plan my trip, I only booked one night stay with them. I am glad I booked a second night with them when I needed to arrive there a day earlier, from Grand Canyon. Good value for money. I would definitely stay there again. My friends who came with me felt the same.
