“Excellent hotel on the beach on Sanibel Island.”
We enjoyed the West Wind Inn--the second-floor room was clean, and the screened-in balcony with a view of the pool and ocean was extremely pleasant. The pool was clean and inviting, and the beach was wonderful. Having a small area in the room with countertop, small refrigerator, sink, and microwave was great so that we were able to have breakfast, cold drinks, fruit, and snacks at the hotel. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful. While there is a small supply of bicycles at the hotel for rent, there were none available while we were there so we rented bikes in town and biked through Ding Darling Nature Preserve. The hotel is very close to Ding Darling and Tarpon Bay and a variety of other activities.
“Superb”
Excellent in all ways. We will definitely stay there again.
“Excellent value and superb service.”
The staff went out of its way for a very enjoyable St. Patricks day party with excellent food and drink. I think this place is a jewel.
“A Sanibel jewel”
We just spent 5 great days at West Wind Inn. Our first visit, it was just what we were looking for. If you want a South Beach kind of hotel, this isn't it. West Wind Inn is low key, simple, clean, quiet and friendly, It has somewhat of a '50s look to it, and I'm guessing that's when it was built, back when land was cheaper and hotels could afford to use a lot of it for lawns, etc. The screened porch on our first floor unit, complete with screen door, was charming, as were the butterfly garden and the tiki shell-cleaning station. The room was fine, with microwave, refrigerator and recently updated bathroom. We could walk out the back door and be at the beach or pool in 20 seconds. The pool was nice, with a great elevated pool bar overlooking the Gulf, where the bartenders made real drinks. The staff were wonderful; as an example, when we were checking out it was raining, and we didn't have an umbrella. The folks at the front desk gave us 2 towels, saying "Keep them, they'll come in handy." I haven't yet mentioned the restaurant, The Normandie, located in its own building on the property. We missed dinners there, but ate breakfast there each morning. The food was amazingly good, and we loved the little place and its staff.
“Great stay”
Everything was wonderful. We were upgraded to a kitchnette which was great, we may ask for that next time. Pool was very nice, Normandie for breakfast and dinner outstanding!
“Great stay for great price”
This hotel only gets a three star rating, I think b/c they do not have dinning or room-service every night. Short drive to many wonderful restaurants. This is perfect placed to stay for couples and families. The bed was so comfortable, the pool warm, but best of all was their own private beach, walk to the south and you see all the other hotels, condos, walk to the east and you see all the beautiful homes. Easy to get to everything from this hotel, great if you want to spend a few days and not get the kitchen and go out. I talked to some who got the rooms with kitchen they said it was nice. The prices on lunch and drinks were also great. You can get a fun Rum drink for around 7-8 dollars
“If you need internet, this room is not for you”
hotel was very nice and clean, the only problem is we booked a room that was "poolside" our room was so far in the cornor....with the trees, there was absolutely not view of the pool. Also....we had a very difficult time with the internet....when we questioned at the front desk, they told us they would restart...but still for our entire stay....very poor internet.
“Great place to relax!”
Hotel was clean and quiet, the two most important things we wanted. Excellent access to the beach away from crowds. Restaurant was great for breakfast, and the staff at the hotel and the restaurant were friendly and professional. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but manageable.
“Relaxing and Stress Free”
Very clean except for the occasional roach(2 in 5 days). Maid service was excellant. Quite with a great view of gulf. Massive amount of shells. We would stay here again.
“Wonderful resort”
Hotel has everything we want for a vacation. Staff was very helpful.
