“Fantastically small”
All standard hotel rooms in Japan are small but this one made it cozy with all brand new clean amenities! It was trendy, and in the center of the Tenjin shopping district accross the street from the subway, great location! We were pleasantly suprised!
“A nice overnight stay”
Very pleasent staff and a quick check in. My room was very clean with modern decor.Also close to shopping mall and cafes.Would certainly recommend the Monterey to any long term or over night guests.
“Perfect Price and Location”
I was really pleased with this hotel considering the overall price of goods in Fukuoka. It was relatively inexpensive and the room was very nice. Not to mention it's location near Tenjin station is ideal for any traveller.

Locals think this hotel is expensive because of its chic art deco appearance, but it's extremely affordable, well-kept, and primely situated in the center of town. I would definitely stay again on my next trip to Fukuoka.
“Location, location, location”
This is a fine hotel for anyone accustomed to traveling in Japan on a moderate budget. By western standards, the rooms are small, but normal by Japanese standards. I stayed in a single, but took a peek into an open double and it was considerably larger - enough for two adults plus one child. The hotel was clean and the staff was helpful, friendly, and professional (pretty much standard in Japan). But by far the best thing about this hotel was it's central location: a 3 minute walk from the main Tenjin station, right in the heart of the huge Tenjin shoppping area, adjacent to the trendy and fashionable Daimyo district. There are lots of restaurants, bars, indy cafes (with several Starbuck's nearby for those so-inclined). It's an short subway ride (10 minutes) to the airport from Tenjin station, or 5 minutes the other direction to Ohori Park (a great walk on a nice day). It's one of the less expensive hotels in the area. You could find something cheaper farther out, but Tenjin/Daimyo and nearby Nakasu-Kawabata (10 minute walk or one subway stop away) are where you want to be in Fukuoka, so save the cab/subway fares and stay in the heart of the city.
“My regular hotel”
It's affordable, chic, and conveniently located. It's the best deal in town.
“Exactly what was expected!”
The hotel was well situated. No fuss and good service. If I return to Fukuoka I would definitely try to get a room at the Monterrey La Soeur again.

Great location close to a large CitiBank branch (for cash) and a subway station entrance. Nice room, nice staff... no complaints.

The clerks were very polite and hotel was very clean.
“Great value hotel”
Not the fanciest place, but it's at a good, central location in Teinjin, close to many of the good street stalls. For the money, hard to beat. We'd stay there again.
