“Great for Budget Travelers”
This is the first time I have stayed at this motel. I was a little bit leery after reading some of the reviews. But being that I am a single mom, I really needed something in my budget so I decided to try it & I loved it. The location is great, 1 block from the beach, within walking distance. The cleanliness of the room was outstanding. The housekeepers are this motel's greatest asset. We stayed 3 days & each time we came back from the beach the room was spic & span--- this with 3 kids in the room. The rooms are extremely roomy, more so than some hotels. I have 3 kids & we had alot of room to move around in. Loved the microwave & mini fridge. The floors are wood & some people might not like this, but I liked it because they do not hold smells like carpets do. So the room did not have that musty smell that some motels have. The outside needs some work but the rooms themselves are extremely clean. The beds were very comfy. The table is also like in a separate area not next to the beds & the kids liked this. Breakfast was okay(waffles, cereal) It was your typical complimentary breakfast. We never used the pool so not sure about that. The only negative is that there is no WIFI in the room or lobby. I did call the front desk and they gave us a password but we could never get it to work. That said if you are looking for luxury then this is not the motel for you. But if you need something economical that is clean and decent then this place is great.
“Will definitely stay here again!”
This is an older hotel, priced for discount, so don't expect a lot of amenities, but we had an excellent stay overall. The night manager was friendly if you were friendly to him and the cleaning service was helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable -- no bed bugs in sight! The coffee was good and breakfast tasty. I appreciated the free wi-fi, being able to bring my pet with me, and the location was great! We walked to the beach every day -- and the visiting the beach as much as possible was the purpose of our stay. Great restaurants within walking distance too! We will definitely book her again.
“Best in Galveston for the money.”
We were surprised how nice the hotel was. There were no problems and the staff was helpful. No smoking in the rooms, which I like but may be a problem for some. Pretty good breakfast free. We will be staying there again.
“just fine”
just as priced spend , clean, 1 block from the seawall it is ok
“would book again”
Vary convenient to many things within a few blocks
“Nick & Nicole's Mini Vaca!”
My husband and I decided on a whim Monday afternoon to head to Galveston and leave the kids with my parents; we had a blast! Our original plan was to book the Beachcomber but were so thankful our internet reception went out on the way down because once we arrived and looked at the property & went inside the lobby it was DE-SCUS-TING!!! We saw this hotel and were pretty satisfied with the outer appearance and office staff so we booked online! It was a perfect 5 min walk to the beach and pretty much in the middle of the Seawall! Will stay again!
“clean room”
i liked my room it was nice n clean but it was a handicap one so i dont know if the other rooms would be smaller. front desk guy looked sluggish and annoyed about everything but im thinking hes part of the family that runs the hotel cuz a hired stranger would not act like that but whatever he didnt give me any problems.
“Affordable and clean”
This hotel was affordable and clean. It is only one block from the beach so the location is great. It is not one of the fancy hotels on Galveston Island. Fridge and microwave in the room but no coffeemaker. The breakfast in the lobby was good, my husband even made his own waffle. Only problem we had was the people upstairs were noisy. We couldn't hear voices only the footsteps of the kids running back and forth. Next time, we'll ask for a room on the third floor. I would definitely stay here again as it's in a good neighborhood and good location and the rooms were very clean and comfy.
“Pleasantly surprised!”
Was nervous going to hotel not knowing what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised @ how nice & clean the room was. Most impressed with the wood & tile floors. Location was great....short walk to beach next to Gaidos Seafood Restaurant. Reasonable rates!! Will definitely consider staying there again.
“Close to seawall and several nice restaurants.”
Very satisfied with the convenient location. The rooms were relatively clean and enjoyed the wood and tile floors being so close to the beach. The only maintenance thing we had issues with was the slow drain in the bath tub and the TV not getting a real good signal on all channels. I didn't mention this to the desk clerk as we were only there for a brief stay. I did miss not having a small coffee pot in the room but they did have coffee at the hotel lobby in the morning. The pool was very clean. Overall for the price and convenient location I would not have a problem staying here in the future.
