“Hotel”
Hotel was lovely and clean, well sized room and bathroom with great views of the ocean. Staff generally didnt speak english and had some trouble getting our requests (such as towels) completed. Was difficult to find places to eat in the area but perhaps that was because the tourist season was over when we arrived.
“Old hotel in poor location”
We stayed at this hotel for two nights - the service was very good and the front desk staff most helpfull, however it was extremely hard to find and the location was not the best as you had to drive back into two to find restaurants if you did not wish to eat at the hotel. Our room included a lovely breakfast with all sorts of choices. Parking on the hotel property was extra and we did not feel comfortable leaving the car on the road outside. The hotel overlooked the beach and there was a lovely long promenade along which you could walk but this hotel is by no means "on the beach". Cannot complain about the hotel but would not recommend it because of the location.
“Fawlty Towers”
This place is like fawlty towers. The plumbing didn't work, the food was all cold (even the hot stuff), there was no winw lest on the wine menu, light bulbs were missing from the public areas, there were no porters or English speaking staff. All that for 4 stars!. To its credit it was clean. I can only assume that Elba hotels are either planning to ditch it, or are doing a major refurb. soon to match it to their other hotels. Really, it was a disaster!
