“Improving”
I was in this hotel 2 years ago. It is in better shape now. Brand new A/C's - better service - new paint - upgraded swimming pool. And the best of all, they do allow ice chests; before ice chests were not allowed. Impressive sunset, beautiful beach, great snorkeling.
“paradiso resort”
This resort has everithing you need but the best of all is the location, is just so relaxing! it's so privete that you will forget all your stress i have stay there for 3 times and it is because of that THE LOCATION!!!! even that the service is avarege.
“It's fine”
Yes, the Paradiso is an older resort but that doesn't change it's simple elegance. The setting is perfect - cascading mountains down into a crystal blue bay. It was very windy for 2 days during April but the rest of the weather was perfect. The staff were always very helpful, friendly and caring. I'd return in a minute.
“This is a true paradiso, if you know what I mean”
Since Sonora Bay Club Med, which I visited many times closed in 2001, I was missing this place badly, till I discovered, that it became Hotel Paradiso. After long discussion and hesitation based on low-rating and bad reviews, we finally decided to spent a week there in October of this year. To be honest, we were quite concerned with what we will find upon arrival. Our expectations were fully met, we found very nice hotel, not in the top shape, but quite decent, very good food, simple, but very tasty and with a lot of local character, friendly service with full attention to our needs and most importantly, it was almost empty. We liked it so much, that we changed our plans and stayed 2 weeks there, enjoing warm sea, sandy beaches and very nice surroundings of friendly little town San Carlos. We are planning to be back over X-Mass and we highly reccomend the place to anybody who likes the nature and the true value of good vacation. Don't go there if you are looking for conventional crowded Mexican resort like Cancun or Acapulco.
“Improving”
This hotel is the old Club Med and the current owners are working to rennovate and improve the facilities. The staff is extremely friendly, the one meal we had at the hotel was excellent and the grounds are decently maintained. The room did not have heat which caused the room to get a cold at night. The location and ocean view were excellent. This is not a luxury hotel or resort quality hotel but for the price, it is an excellent value. It does have a great pool, lagoon and horseback riding. We travel to San Carlos frequently and for the area, this is an excellent value.
“Relaxing”
Out of the way, not super busy
“Nice stay for a low price”
We didn't plan to hit the beach on sunday but we finally decided to go on the last minute. Searching online we found a really good price for a two bed room on expedia (more than 50% lower than what the hotel offered on the phone or at the front desk). The hotel is nice, safe parking, really nice views, nice clean private beach, not overcrowded, staff is really nice, pool was clean, hotel food was really good and not expensive and there are also other restaurants nearby on the beach, in case you want to try other food. Just for being a guest you can use ammenities (pingpong table, pool table, volleyball, soccer, and other sport stuff from the hotel) Lots of activities available. As for the room, it was clean, nothing fancy, just the basics (shower, hot water, two queen size beds, view to the inside lake), sun came in nicely in the morning through the window. Cons: we got a room in the third floor, no elevator, but I for the price we paid this was acceptable. We spent the day in the private beach anyway, and we could watch the sunset all by ourselves. Restaurant staff can bring drinks to beach if requested. Our room seemed a little bit old, but they seem to be buliding new rooms and improving the look of the others. The hotel is one of the last ones on the beach, so you drive a couple more miles to get there. This is a good place to stay If you are looking for a lower price.
“Good location but awful rooms”
The hotel has a great location, but has poor service, rooms are From the 70s i think very old and ugly rooms, the employes wero Not nice, on expedia says pets accepted but they didnt let enter My dog, i definetely not recomend this hotel for several reasons
“Not impressed”
The only thing we like about the hotel is the location. It has it's own private beach which is really nice and is away from the crowds of hotels near by. The rooms do not have an iron, blow dryer, hand or shower towels and every day we were there we had to be asking for bath towels as they would take the dirty ones and not leave anything else. The shower and room seem dirty and very old. There were windows broken on the side of one of the buildings and torn curtains. The food in the restaurant was not good at all. The romote control for the TV never worked even after we asked for it to be fixed or replaced. The whole place needs a total face lift and for the price we were expecting somethin a little better.
“Was great in 1988”
I've got to tell ya, this was probably a great hotel in 1988. But it hasn't been redone since. The beach, lagoon and things to do are widely available. However, the rooms are small and in dire need of repair. Ours had cracks in the floor and ceiling, no balcony, only a small window 4 foot above the beach. There were three buildings totally delapadated, closed and falling down. The pool is nice but there are many cracks in the concrete. Food was so so, and the breakfast buffet is not worth $$.
