“Excellent Hotel - Very Unique, HIghly Recommend”
This is a great hotel, and also very unique as it has an interesting history. The staff is great, the location is excellent as it is in a great neighborhood (explore the neighboorhood if you can!), and it's near the train (a few stops from central station). The rooms are nice, clean, etc. The restaurant is nice and has a great atmosphere. I travel quite a bit, and this is one of my favorite hotels.
“Swiss efficiency”
Stayed here for 4 nights end of August/beginning September 2010 and found it to be a very efficient and pleasant hotel. Full of character, being located in an old water tower, and the Sternschanze park that surrounds is good for jogging/strolling around. S bahn line takes you to centre easily and good location to get back to the airport too (don't bother going all way down and around on S1 line just change a couple of times on other lines, much quicker). Hotel staff couldn't help enough when told them wanted to pop to Berlin for the day (although ended up being too expensive on ICE train and bus a little too long for a day trip) and were generally very approachable. Gym was small yet efficient and hardly anyone there when we used it....and sauna was completely empty with a nice relaxing curtained-off area for lounging in robes. Nice free apples at reception too which had to grab each time walked past! Hotel also in decent condition, only having been open since 2007, which always a plus. Pack an umbrella though as Hamburg weather is crazier than English weather which I never expected (one minute torrential rain, overcast and chilly; next sunny, warm and sticky...several times during the day but August is the wettest month)

I was very happy with the hotel and it's staff were helpful and pleasant. I will stay there again when I next visit Hamburg.
“Top hotel”
This is a must to stay,if you want something which is unusual.The reception areas of the water tower are very distinct with brick and modern furniture.Hotel service was superb friendly and helpful.The train and metro are only a 100 meters away and only a couple of stops away from all the sites
“Very good hotel in nice location.”
I was very glad to have stayed at the Moevenpick. Bed was comfortable, location quiet, all was clean, bathroom had a good shower. My only difficulty was with broadband access on my work laptop - some hotels have direct free broadband but the Moevenpick, like many, goes through a system that clashes with our work security system so the connection is not available. There is a business centre downstairs that looked fine - but I didn't actually use it.
“Great for the conference location - shabby surroundings”
The hotel itself is quite nice but it´s amazing that they haven´t cleaned up around it. Cigarette butts and broken glass all around.
“Bad odor spoils a great hotel”
The Movenpick is a stylish modern hotel inside of an unusual historic building located in the center of park. It is an easy walk to the convention center, university, shops and cafes. I had a room on the top floor with a lovely view. The window to the room was open wide when I checked in. Unfortunately, after shutting the window, the room began to smell like sewer gases. When air vents for drains are blocked, sewer gases cannot escape through the vents so the gases come back up through the drains(my husband is plumber). I identified the problem as the drain in the shower and placed a towel over the drain to cap the odor. It was late, my trip was only 2 nights and I didn't have the time for a room change. I left the window open and the towel over the drain. I told the hotel about the odor when I checked out, but I don't know if they understood. I would stay there again conditional that the room was odor free.
