“Family Stay”

Myself, my husband and our 8 year old son stayed here for one night whilst we visited Beaulieu Motor Museum. Coincidentally my husband also stayed here last year whilst on business in the area. For our purpose we couldn't fault the hotel or our stay. My husband was also more than happy when he stayed here last year. The sofa bed was made up ready for our arrival, sufficient extra towels etc were already in our room too. Breakfast couldn't be faulted, there was enough of everything and more than enough choice. All in all I would be more than happy to stay here again.

“Good overnight base”

The hotel is an excellent modern budget hotel for an overnight stay. Ideal for tourists catching ferries or cruise ships. Also within reasonable distance from the airport. In our case we were visiting relatives nearby. The room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast is more than adequate, and fresh food was brought to the buffet at regular intervals. I wouldn't recommend staying for more than a couple of nights as the evening meal menu is restricted, and you need a car or taxi to go to local restaurants.

“Friendly staff”

We were checked very efficiently by a friendly receptionist. Our room had modern decor, and was spotlessly clean. We stayed for two nights on a B&B basis. Breakfasts were self service with a wide range of options - cereals, pastries, yoghurts, and fruit.

“Excellent value hotel”

The hotel was extremely good value for a family of 4 for one night. It was newly decorated and had flat screen TV with all achannels. Bathroom was a good size, excellent shower. Best thing was the helpful, friendly staff who informed us about local restaurants and even take away food delivered free to the hotel. Great buffet breakfast with plenty of choice even tho continental!

“Would definatley recommend! Close to Southampton City centre”

The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly, the rooms spacious and the breakfast was great. Was only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Southampton. we will go back if down that way. Would recommend this hotel for sure!

“Absolutely fantastic”

I can't fault our stay at this hotel. The rooms were well equipped, spacious, very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and very obliging with any extra requests made. The only slight issue was food. Being out of the centre, there were no restaurants within walking distance and there was no food served at the hotel during lunchtime. In the evening there was a limited (but rather expensive) selection of basics such as curry, pizza, etc). However the hotel was more than happy to allow takeaway deliveries to be eaten on the premises and even gave us plates and cutlery to use when the food arrived!! (Also a selection of takeaway menus's were on display at reception.) The breakfast served at the hotel was excellent too. All in all - a fantasic hotel!!

“Marvellous find!”

Have stayed in various hotels in Southampton over a number of years. Never tried this one out before but did so by chance when redeeming Nectar points on a stay there. Absolutely marvellous standards for the star rating. Room was clean, bed extremely comfortable, staff consistently friendly & helpful. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Will definitely go there again rather than any previous hotel.

“Convinient and Comfortable”

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff were freindly. The free berakfast is generous (the kids loved the hot chocolate!) Beds a little 'springy' but over all a very pleasant stay.

“Clean and Friendly hotel - fairly near to Docks”

We stayed as a family at the Express by Holiday Inn at Southampton. The hotel was very clean and all staff were very friendly. We were collecting my parents from their return from a cruise, and the hotel was fairly near the Docks (about 10 mins drive). The Hotel is set just off one of the main roads but the noise is minimal - but there is nothing else near to it (other than a B&Q the other side of the main road). Breakfast was much better than I had expected - although they did run out of milk on the 2nd morning.

“Not Impressed”

We were told our room would have two beds, but what they meant by this is one was a fold out sofa. However, the sofa itself was made out of some sort of cardboard box with a very thin mattress on it. When we "pulled" it out, it had an incline so I had to sleep at an incline the whole night. In our second room, the sofa was an actual pull out sofa, but still not very comfortable. The room was very small. We had called ahead and asked if we could get a roll away bed in the room and the hotel said we could. However, when we asked for one checking in, they kept saying we didn't need one because there was a pull out sofa, which was actually the second bed. Even if they had given us a roll away bed there would have been no place for it in the room. The location of this hotel is good if you are driving because it is only a few minutes of a motorway. However, if you are not driving around, it is not very close to anything else.
