“service was great, hotel was clean and bed was so comfortable!”
We were quite impressed with the cleanliness and great service at the hotel. It felt like we were floating in clouds when we were on the bed! The cleaning people even left cookies for us next to the bed each day. The hotel is also right next to the West Lake, which makes it a convenient place to stay as well. There is also a swimming pool and spa at the bottom floor of the hotel.
“Highly recommend it”
The service in this hotel is excellent all round. Rooms don't have a great view like the other hotels but it's only a 2 min walk across to the lake and cafes across the road. Also very close to great jazz bars. Can't wait to go back to the hotel
“Pleasant experience.”
Overall, pleasant experience. Good location although the hotel itself looks a little 'tired' and could do with a bit of refurbishment. Although the front staff was pleasant, their standard of English could be improved (compared to Sofitel Hyland Shanghai). Also, upon check out, as we were in a hurry to get to the airport, we told the cashier to prepare our bill while we get our luggage from our rooms. However, when we came down some 15 minutes later, the bill was still not ready and we had to wait another 10 minutes to fully settle the bill. Hence, the effiency of the staff could be improved.
“Fine but overpriced”
The hotel itself was fine - little to complain about apart from the nice view from the 6th view being blocked by constant wedding parties. However, there is no way it's worth the nightly rate I paid. This standard of hotel (and different brand) would maybe be in the USD100-140 bracket in the UK, Japan or US.
“Disappointing.”
My second trip to Hangzhou since September. Stayed at the Wyndham last time and will go back there. Esthetically speaking, Sofitel rooms leave much to be desired -- look similar to Chinese hotels costing one third the price; much smaller compared to the Wyndham, lower quality amenities and a bit shabby around the edges -- frayed and stained carpet, patched up wallpaper. No wifi, very limited room service menu (though there are restaurants in the hotel), no coffee pot, only Nescafe and Chinese tea offered. Shower door opens six inches from the toilet and doesn't close properly resulting in water covered floor. Poor lighting for reading. Overall, not a 5-star hotel.
