“Your China Respite”
Don't care how many stars this place is rated - it is a 10 in my book. Excellent facility - clean, marble ,wood, and soft beds. Very friendly staff top to bottom. English can be spotty - but they always find a person to communicate if more than a hailed taxi is your need - no matter the time of day or night. Restaurants on site are excellent ( relative to others in Hangzhou ) my only complaint is the mandatory 15% service charge on everything you buy - lounge, cigar bar, a simple piece of pastry. A one mile walk to West Lake - or 2 blocks to XiXi street - a real Hangzhou experience. Hotel is walking distance to Yellow Dragon Stadium - which is where a direct bus from Shanghai Pudong airport lets you off. Would not stay anywhere else in this city.
“Hangzhou's BEST hotel--it REALLY is!”
I have stayed at other hotels in Hangzhou, and must say that the Dragon is BY FAR head and shoulders above the others. The level of in-room technology (power and data) is superb and the room accommodations are beautiful and well detailed. Great location and the STAFF IS GREAT!!! I even sang a Stevie Wonder song with the desk clerk when checking in!
“Best for business and pleasure”
I've stayed at a number of four and five star hotels in the Hanhzhou area while on business for as few as a couple of days to up to three weeks. I continue to find the Dragon Hotel ticks all the boxes for me. Convenient to most of my business connections in the region and still a great place to unwind at the end oif the day. Superb rec facilities as you would expect for this class hotel and situated in a community full of trees, broad sidewalks, and nice light shopping. If you really want a decadent taste of home there is a McDonalds just three blocks away! My only less than excellent rating came in the Service area of the survey and that was because the staff (especially Room Service order takers) lack good English skills so it's a bit of a hassle getting just what you want delivered. When your meal does get to your room the Hot Sour soup is............OMG!. I'll be taking my wife along for my next visit in November and maxwell, the Customer Service Rep is already putting together some fun day trips for my wife with a car and interpreter.
“My new base in Hangzhou!”
As a Western traveler on both business and pleasure I've stayed at most of the four and five star hotels in the Hangzhou area over the past few years but this was my first experience at the Dragon Hotel. What a great find I might have missed had it not been for my great Expedia deal! Facility was in excellent condition having been recently completely refurbished and all the little things that make a five star hotel what it is is there. Quality of the staff was the clincher for my return decision. While everyone could use more English speaking skills, what launguage skills were miussing was made up for with an increased focus on my needs. I plan on bringing my wife on my next business trip if we can get rooms at the Dragon since there is a wealth of shopping, musems, and quality tourist venues for her enjoyment while I'm busy in the day taking care of my business. In the evenings we can both enjoy beautiful West Lake, Hangzhou.
“Only get's better!”
My fourth visit now over three years and this hotel just get's better. The new chef has taken the food quality up another step and customer service supports the marketing department's claim that the Dragon is totally focused on customer service. This five star hotel is well known to the Chinese business and family market but not as well known to Western travelers which is changing with wider exposure in foreign markets. Close to the many attractions of the West Lake area as well as many well known regional attractions. The walk to the ancient Yellow Dragon Cave is five minutes from the hotel and is a beautiful picture of the mystery that is China to me.
“Five stars?”
staffs don't seen to be knowing what to do, as if I am the first guest they ever encounter. They talk to each other constantly in order to figure out how to check in me.hotel has no money exchange, five stars? Ask me to go to the bank. No swimming pool either at the time. The hotel condition is excellent, probably the best in the city, location is a little far from the lake, u have to take the cab. In short, very nice hotel, just could not figure out where they found these people working there, when I need a cab. The doorman standing next to me is always idle. Do yourself a favor, stay at hyatt, better location and services
