“perfect hawaiian experience”
Almost perfect! One little issue being that if you have a room on the second floor, the luau show will be part of your experience whether you want it or not. Otherwise, a splendid experience, nice staff, beautiful views and a great location. Have fun!
“royal kona royal treatment”

“Amazing value, Amazing location!”
The hotel is in a fantastic location, convenient to shops and restaurants. Grounds are beautiful and the ocean-side view cannot be beat! The staff is very friendly, polite and helpful! The on-site Don The Beachcomber's bar has excellent drinks and food and the view is simply stunning! The Royal Kona has probably the best Luau on the island - fantastic food and a great show! (This is coming from someone who hates kitschy, "touristy" events!) The rooms are very dated (including well-used tiki-style furniture from the 70s when this was the Hilton) but are clean and the beds are comfortable. For the price, I have no complaints whatsoever! If you are looking for a clean, comfortable place to lay your head after a long day out and about on the Big Island, or want torelax and sip a Mai Tai while taking in the gorgeous sunset, the Royal Kona is just the ticket! If you are looking for a four-star spa-style resort with so many amenities and activities that you'll never leave the grounds, look elsewhere.
“Wish I could go back but the flight is to long.”
We loved the hotel the staff are the best, expeida at the hotel worked with us each day great work kathy. You need to rent a car to travel around they have a bus that has a cheap price on and off. The food is a little high at the hotel take extra money but we found a great place down the road the lava java great food over all had a great time.
“Kona Oct 26 2011”
Had a great time on our vacation.... Hotel was nice they gave us a free ocean view upgrade.... Only complaints were that the bed was hard as a rock, the shower went from cold to hot, and the AC unit kept making a loud banging noise when we were trying to sleep.... otherwise everyone was very nice and the hotel was in a great location.
“Great hotel! Beautiful location.”
The room itself was a little on the plain side, I kind of expected a little more decorations, but the view made up for it. The hotel is in a beautiful location right next to the water, so you can fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the beach (I definitely recommend paying the little extra for the better view, it's gorgeous!). It's also in the middle of a great area of the island with tons of night life and lots things to do within walking distance. The hotel luau was fun too. The food was a little bland but the show and mai tai's were excellent! We went to the dinner buffet and ordered off the 2 dinners for $65 which included a bottle of wine, an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert, it was the best dinner we had the whole trip! Well worth the price; not to mention it overlooked the ocean, which made it even more worth it. The hotel bar is also great. The selections are endless and all the drinks were very well made. Travis was our favorite bartender! He made awesome recommendations and made the drinks just right. (I highly recommend trying one of his famous bloody marys). He knew the island very well and was able to tell us where the best spots were. We were very thankful for his couteous service and prestigious knowledge. Overall it was a great trip and a great hotel! Mahalo!
“Would go back”
