I like this hotel. The room is spacious, hotel employees courteous & helpful. I would recommend this hotel to others. Conveniently located & affordable.
“Home away from home”
My husband, son and I enjoyed our stay at Uncle Billy's Hilo Bay Hotel, because it was very comfortable. We liked the atmosphere and the beautiful scenery surrounding the hotel. I loved strolling through the koi gardens and picking the fresh ginger flowers they have growing there. It's not a fancy hotel, but it's worth the price of what we paid for it. The staff there has so much aloha and are very down to earth. They were very nice to our 3 year old son. We are planning to stay there for our next trip at the end of the month. Aloha!
“Live Aloha!”
Uncle Billy's is all about Hawaii. The hospitality and ambiance of the hotle reflects the true meaning of the word "Aloha". The hotel itself is an old replica of what paradise was like several decades ago. I would certainly stay at Uncle Billy's Hilo Bay Hotel whenever I'm in Hilo to enjoy a taste of old Hawaii. Mahalo to everyone especially Debbie!
“Open air and on the water”
This is an inexpensive hotel that offers a cool jungle setting near the ocean. Rooms are old but clean and get you close to nature. People are nice and friendly.
“Great local place to stay - good deal for the price”
We loved our stay at Uncle Billy's. The room was spacious and more than we expected for the price. The atmosphere feels very "local" and there is a nice grassy area where you can walk along the beach. The breakfast is nothing more than toast and jam, the room a bit run-down (but clean), and the bed was uncomfortable, but at a price half of the rest of Hilo hotels, this stay was well worth it.
“Pretty god place to stay”
They got us in as soon as possible. We even got a free upgrade. The continental breakfast was average but very filling. The front desk staff were very courteous. The cleaning staff however did once disregard the do not disturb sign on the door. Other than that we found everyone there very friendly. The restaurant had live entertainment. We found the portions more than generous. We could have fed both of us with one plate. Parking was great.
“NOT BAD”
Before this trip, I have never stayed or have ever been to uncle Billys. I've heard that the hotel was out dated and some what a ghetto place to stay. I went on a fairly last minute trip and wasnt looking to spend too much. I decided to stay at uncle Billys because the price was really good and could accommodate our party. To my surprise it was not bad at all, it actually looked like the higher priced hotel room next door (where I normally stay). The room was quite roomie and clean. I would stay here again.
