“Clean, comfortable room”

We were very impressed with everything about the Farifield Inn at Hickory. Although they rank it as a little over a 2 star, I think it is better than that. The service was good and friendly. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. An added bonus is there is a great restaurant right across the parking lot and a Starbucks down the street!

During a recent snowstorm in Hickory, I stayed at the Marriott and had splendid service and quality too!

Overall a decent, clean place to stay. The room was comfortable and nice, but not really up to date. I would probably try out the Hampton Inn next door next time
“Freshly painted room! Not good!”
My wife and I recently stayed two nights in this hotel. First of all, the parking lot is hard to find due to several hotels in a very close area. You actually need to turn off the frontage road where you see a sign for Courtyard, which is above and behind this hotel. Then you will see the entrance to your left. We were assigned to a room that had just been painted that day and the fumes were so strong, our noses burned. Since the hotel was sold out, there were no other rooms available. The front desk clerk called the manager, who doesn't work on weekends and was told to run an ozone machine in the room to get rid of the paint odor. After an hour, it was better but not gone. We were given the choice to be moved to the Courtyard, but we would have to come back for the free breakfast. We declined and stayed in the room with some discomfort. The next day we were moved to a different room and our bill was adjusted at our request. I feel management of this hotel is lacking. The room should never have been painted on a day when it was sure to be used due to the sellout. We saw no manager during our stay since the hotel manager did not work on the weekend, even a soldout one, and the front desk manager worked the late shift and didn't come in until 11pm. We might stay here again, but would not be as forgiving.
