“Peaceful refuge on the water”
We spent 3 nights at this hotel and enjoyed it very much. A strong plus for us was its location on the harborfront, i.e. a peaceful refuge away from the busy shopping district along Nathan Road and elsewhere in Kowloon. The hotel provides a shuttle to the shopping district every 30 minutes which facilitates getting around. It is a "destination" hotel for wedding parties which only adds to its alure. We would note that one downside for us were the dinners we had at the Hoi Yat Heen and Harbour Grill restaurants in the hotel. Both were very expensive, but did not measure up in flavor to dinners we have had elsewhere. We would not go back to those two restaurants. In contrast, the Promenade was great for breakfast. Throughout the hotel and in the restaurants, staff were always helpful and pleasant. In all it was a great experience and place to stay.
“Nice hotel on waterfront”
Stayed 5 nights recently and upgraded to Harbour Club which gave us access to 18th floor facilities - breakfast and suburb afternoon teas. Well worth the extra cash. Fabulous views of the harbour from a large well appointed suite. Location not a problem due to regular free bus service from hotel - and taxis are cheap and plentiful anyway. The buffet restaurant in the hotel was good but over priced. The Waterfront Bar has great views, good food and is much cheaper. Would definately stay again.
“Excellent Hotel”
We stayed here as the first of two hotels (the other being the Pen) during a week long break in HK. The hotel was superb from check in, through to us leaving. Room was superb with views over the harbour and the island. The pool and leisure facilities are excellent. My wife had an excellent "destress" massage almost as soon as we arrived, which helped set her up for a week of shopping. The Hotel is in Whampoa, about 2 mins walk from the star ferry to Central/Wanchai and about 5 minutes from Nathan Road and the shops. The hotel has courtesy buses twice an hour into and out of town, so no issues on taxis (although these are very reasonable). Only downside for me was the Promenade buffet style restaurant in the main lounge as this felt a bit like a cheap Med Hotel, with masses of queues for (albeit good) food. However, with 6 other very good restaurants on site, and a few within walking distance, this should not put anyone off. Fantastic stay, we will be back!
“Great Hotel and Location-Great Service”
Definately Check it out!
“Very pleased”
We stayed in Harbour Plaza for 5 days in May '07. The hotel itself was just fantastic, with a majestic staircase, and the wide expansive view of the HK island alongside the whole width of the hotel. We were initially given a room with only a narrow view to the harbour but were quickly changed to a harbour view room, when we went down to complain. The room has an ethernet cable to connect your laptop but they charge about HK$45 for 15 mins use. They don't provide free internet access to guests but you have to go to their Business Centre they charge you even more. So, this is the only gripe I have. The food (both breakfast and dinner buffet) and the decor of the main restaurant were great too, with tons of excellent food to choose from. Our booking did not include breakfast, which worked out about HK$160 each. The hotel itself is a little way off from the main shopping and tourist areas of Tsim Sha Tsui, so they provide a free bus service to TST from the hotel every 30 mins, from 7:00 till 23:00 hrs. If you don't fancy taking the shuttle bus or just missed one, there are always taxis waiting outside the hotel and it doesn't cost more than HK$20 to get to town centre. When you arrive at HK airport, you can take the Airport Express train to Kowloon station for about HK$70 each, one way. The airport Express service also includes providing free bus service to local hotels and Harbour Plaza is one them, on bus no 1. This is the quickest and cheapest route to get to the hotel.
“When can I go back?!”
I just recently returned from my second 2 week stay here. You will be hard pushed to find fault with this hotel, from the moment you pull up outside you are treated warmly and it's so welcoming. Staff & concierge will bend over backwards to help you with any aspect of your stay. Rooms are big, clean, and modern and the housekeeping is amazing! There is so much attention to detail. There are plenty of Chinese and International TV channels in room, which was handy when I couldn't sleep much. The beds are so big and comfortable. It's a pity my bed at home isn't as nice. Restaurants and in-room dining are delicious, varied choice, and not overly pricy. The view of and from the hotel lobby is breathtaking. There are plenty of things to do and places to dine and shop around the Whampoa area, and it is perfectly safe to wander round outside at 3am if you are feeling jetlagged. Transport to the rest of Kowloon and HK are simple, you can either walk, use a cheap taxi from outside the hotel, take one of the ferrys that is 2 minutes away (to Central and North Point).Alternatively, the hotel provides a free shuttle bus to Nathan rd which departs every 30 minutes.Be sure to check out the glass walled pool on the rooftop- it's awesome! It's not the biggest pool ever, but there is a jacuzzi area and the view definately makes up for the size.I could praise the hotel all day, and I would happily urge anyone to stay there. The price you pay is very decent for the service you get.
“Great place to stay in Hong Kong”
We thoroughly enjoyed our week here.Worth the extra to upgrade- we had a small suite on the top floor with the most fantastic, unforgettable views of Hong Kong and the South China Sea. Great breakfast, very friendly staff and THE place to have a wedding as we saw 3. Try the Chinese restaurant in the hotel - not cheap but excellent.
“Enchanting Harbour View at a Reasonable Price”
Staff genuinely friendly and remarkably helpful. Great location, slightly removed from the madding crowd. Delightful to sit in air conditioned comfort and watch the Hong Kong Island and cruise ship lights wink on as dusk descends. Would definitely return on a future HKG visit, again an undeserving and undetected interloper in the Aston Martin and Porsche set.
“Very good hotel.”
We stayed a week and had a wonderful time. Great service. Make sure you stay in a harbour view room, the view is worth the little extra cost.
“Pleased my fussy partner and me”
Excellent on most accounts except price and uncentral location, which can be mitigated by shopping around for best price (Expedia was best on this occasion)and using free hotel shuttle bus (every half hour)to central Kowloon, the inexpensive taxis and for airport passengers the free and frequent (every 12 mins)bus to Kowloon MTR station where you may also check-in for your flight.
