“Very Good Hotel”
Location good near subway, clean and service is very good
“Friendly, helpful and good value”
Great value for Hong Kong and excellent location - right next to the main tram lines on Hong Kong island and about 10 minutes walk from Wanchai MTR. Really helpful staff , especially the concierge who can tell you anything you need to know about buses, directions etc. Room was more spacious than I expected from Hong Kong and great views over the Happy valley racecourse. Bed was a bit hard but otherwise everything was great. Would highly recommend this hotel
“Great hotel, great location, great price”
I had read all of the reviews prior to booking and I have to say that I fall into the camp that thinks this hotel is excellent value for money, in a great location and provides really good quality accommodation. The staff were really helpful - from advice on where to get my glasses fixed through to sorting out the room safe when I forgot the code. The top floor 'starlight' bar is good fun - it reminded me a bit of the bar in the film Lost in Translation (different country I know) complete with 'enthusiastic' cabaret singers.
“great location”
very reasonably priced for Hong Kong. staff were very attentive. Room was on the small side but adequate and clean.
“Good Budget Hotel”
We knew Hong Kong and wanted a good budget hotel near Happy Valley. This hotel fitted the bill. Not the largest room, I've had smaller in Hong Kong. Not the comfiest bed. But everything you need in in the hotel or close by. Very good for transport, the tram goes right past the front door, MTR a pleasant walk, buses abound and just a 20minute walk from Wanchai ferry pier. The hotel is located such that within a 5minute walk you can see the extremes of HK life. The Happy Valley racecourse is in sight of the hotel and next door to the hotel is a open air market.
“excellent”
would definitely stay there again.
“Excellent choice for a 1st visit”
My opinion is that this hotel has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Hong Kong - just a few minutes from Times Square, the MTR and lots of other great places. The hotel staff were fantastic and so too was the lounge on the 28th floor. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hong Kong for the first time.
“Good, reasonably priced option in the middle of Hong Kong”
Helpful staff, check-in and out was a cinch. The room floor's were a bit worn, but otherwise the room was big and in great condition. The security locksafe is also a nice addition. The only real knock on the hotel is that it's about a 10 minute walk from the nearest MTB station, so if you're carrying luggage you're better off taking a cab than trying to traverse the crowded streets to find the hotel.
“Clean and convenient”
The hotel was clean and respectable for the price, located close to shops in Causeway Bay and MRT. We would recommend it to other visitors on holidays.
“Good value and location for the money”
Overall stay was great! The morning buffet is good. The MTR is only four blocks away and is not really an inconvenience because taxi fare is inexpensive to most points on Hong Kong Island if you do not care to walk. The only things I did not like was the fact that the rooms are small and the bathroom had poor lighting and no exhaust fan. You can guess what this did to the bathroom mirror after a bath? Also, the CD player skipped during play. I plan to return on the third week of October, 2006 and will stay at the South Pacific.
