Property Amenities
More than three acres of fragrant gardens border the secluded Palms Cliff House Inn, set atop a 100-foot ocean cliff on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kolekole Beach, with its picturesque waterfall, is a two-mile drive. Historic Hilo Town is 11 miles away and shopping areas are nearby.
Guests have use of barbecue facilities (surcharge), including table settings and condiments. A lava-rock path leads to a spa tub. A lounge provides an honor bar stocked with snacks and nonalcoholic beverages (surcharges). Wireless Internet access and secure parking are available for free.
On request, the inn provides open-air massages (surcharges).
The inn is entirely smoke-free.
Rooms
All eight guestrooms overlook the ocean and Pohakumanu Bay and have private lanais. No two guestrooms are alike, as each contains its own unique décor; however, all include antique king beds that feature custom bedding and a pillow menu with soft, medium, and firm options.
Deluxe suites include gas fireplaces, two-person jetted tubs in an alcove, and two-person marble showers. Standard rooms provide jetted tub/shower combinations. Both suites and rooms offer tropical spa bath products. Other rooms include separate bathtubs and showers.
TVs come with DVD players. Guests enjoy complimentary access to a DVD library with more than 600 titles. Complimentary dial-up Internet access is available, too.
Compact refrigerators, coffee/tea maker, cookware, dishware, and lanterns are provided. First-floor rooms are not air conditioned, but do provide ceiling fans. Upon request, floor fans are also available.
All rooms are nonsmoking.

Breakfast is available each morning on the Grand Main Lanai (surcharges apply for guests who did not book the Sunrise Rate Plan).
Guests may also request a Continental breakfast in their rooms, which includes fresh tropical fruit, breakfast breads, coffee, and tea (surcharges).
The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are several dining options within the surrounding area.

A lava path leads to the inn's spa tub.
Although the inn is poised atop an ocean cliff, it does not have beach access. Beach activities are available, two miles away, at Kolekole Beach Park. Akaka Falls State Park, also two miles from the inn, offers running and hiking paths through a lush tropical setting. Various excursions leave from Hilo Town, 11 miles away. Guests can enjoy aerial sightseeing and ecotours near the hotel as well.

“Excellent stay near Hilo”
Great location. Very well-kept. Beautiful views. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend it and would definitely go back.
“Exciting Trip”
The Palms turned out to be the quiet, romantic get away we had dreamed of. The personell were very friendly and and committed to providing great service to their guest. They provided great assistance in seeing the sights of the Big Island. Breakfast in the morning was excellent watching the sun rise while sitting in the lanai. We had a memorable time. Thanks
“Idyllic Setting”
Beautifully maintained rooms and grounds. Ocean view from rooms is fabulous. The 2 breakfasts that we had were quite good. Courtesy coffee is available to guests in the dining area. This was not made clear at check in. Coffee makers were in every room but coffee packets were extra. This probably was not a smart business move as some guests were offended. It would probably serve the owners better to charge a few dollars extra for the rooms and have the coffee available gratis. The owners were very nice and had spent so much time and love attending to details that it would be a shame for them to lose business over such a silly oversight. Highly recommended.
“Beautiful Hawaiian B&B”
We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, more relaxing place to stay. The room, the grounds and the view were fabulous. The innkeepers were warm and gracious, and every aspect of their service was great. Each morning as we ate a delicious breakfast (e.g., pineapple pancakes with sausage and fresh fruit from the garden) on a lanai overlooking a deep blue ocean, my husband and I kept thinking "It doesn't get much better than this!" It was definitely the highlight of our Hawaiian vacation.
“A Hidden Jewel”
Beautiful accommodations in an absolutely stunning location. The only sounds from our balcony were birds and the sounds of the surf against the cliffs.........oh yes,along with a few rosters at dawn. With only six rooms, the owners make guests feel like kings and queens.

The simply beauity of nature and old world charm hospitality make for a fantastic view of how the rich used to live at what is a very reasonable. no almost cheap price. It is great!
“Already Planning another stay with The Palms Cliff House”
There aren't enough words in the English language to describe our stay. The staff was incredible. Our stay at this Bed and Breakfast was the absolute best we have ever experienced. Location, AWESOME.
“Wonderful Getaway”
This hotel is 10 miles north of Hilo. It was wonderful. Very relaxing, very quiet, and you felt like you were by yourself in the paradise that is Hawaii. We almost did not come back home!
“Peaceful, relaxing, fantastic view”
Not usually a B & B fan, but this place is great. Beautiful house and grounds. Great service and delicious breakfast. Only saw our room in person and it was so nice. The website has many pictures so you do know what you are getting.
“Home away from home”
The overlook to the ocean is beautiful. Waking up to the sunrise was awesome. After coming back from excursions we always found it to feel like home when we drove up the driveway each night. Every morning, it was a pleasure to find a wonderful breakfast waiting for us before our next excursion. The owner's were great to chat with.
