“clean and nice, close to all attractions”
Niles hotel is nice, clean and close to all attractions. It is minutes away to most historical places, and 2-minute away from the tramway and busses. One thing may not please my fellow Americans who are used to large spaces. This is Istanbul where every inch is utilized. Rooms and bathrooms are small but this is the case in all hotels in this historical district where real estate is very expensive. Hotel has very friendly staff and good breakfast. It offers also free wireless internet but the signal may not be strong in all rooms.
“Great place to relax in Istanbul”
Stayed in one of the suites and found it to be large, comfortable, and over all a beautiful place to stay and an excellent value. The location (Beyazit) is quiet at night, but its a close walk to restaurants, the grand bazaar, and sultanahmet.
“Niles Hotel is a treasure.”
All the staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. They helped to make our visit to Istanbul more enjoyable and easier by providing, upon request, information about how to get around using the local transport and helped with tickets and tours. The buffet breakfast had a wide assortment of delicious breads, local pastries, meat and cheeses, fresh fruit, eggs, potatoes, etc. It was a lovely way to start the day in their rooftop cafe with the birds singing and the beautiful view of the Sea of Marmaris, or one could sit outside if the weather was nice. (Which it usually was!) The hotel is ideally situated for walking to the main attractions for tourists; i.e. Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, etc. and is very close to the tram and buses. Our room was a little smaller than other hotels i've stayed in, so if you're on the large size or like or need more space, you might feel cramped. Also, it's on a very steep hill, so if you have mobility problems, you will have difficulty.
“Believe the hype”
We booked this hotel after reading almost universally good reviews for it on the internet. Having stayed there, we can only add our voices to the chorus. The staff were incredibly polite, and couldn't do enough to help; the hotel was immaculately clean, with a terrace bar with beautiful views of the Marmara sea; the room was well appointed, with a good en-suite shower, television, fridge, hanging space, and a safe. The hotel is very well situated for the grand bazaar, and is a 10-15 minute walk to the Haggia Sophia and Sultanahmet Mosque. A stop for trams, which goes to the dock from which Bosphorous cruises embark, is a five minute walk from the hotel. The hotel's airport pick-up service, deails of which are on its website, comes highly recommended.
“A hotel with perfect staff”
I stayed at Niles for 5 nights with my wife. The hotel is located very near to the Grand Bazar, so location wise it's perfectly situated in the old part of Istanbul. The hotel itself is small, relaxed and quite. The staff are AWESOME. Upon arrival we had a simple orientation on the city by receptionist Kemal who was very attentive to all our needs throughout our stay, recommending placed to visit, things to eat, and arranging bookings if necessary. The breakfast is really good and the roof, where breakfast is server, is lovely. Selma will meet you there every morning with her warm and welcoming smile, an excellent start to the day :) Yimlaz was also amazing and helpful. Overall we enjoyed it, and think it was the right choice. You don't need to hesitate on choosing Niles, you simple get what you pay for, and a bit more!
“Exotic Istanbul”
The Hotel Nile was just a short walk from the Great Bazaar and all of Sultanamet was at our feet. Literally we just walked the 3 blocks to the main street and turned right. We could and did take the tram (cheap only 1.50 lira) after the first day just for convenience. We got directions and help from staff at every point of the quest.
“Recommended without reservation”
We booked this hotel via Expedia because it had good reviews and we were not disappointed. Our room was perfectly big enough, it had everything we needed, the beds were clean and comfortable, the bathroom was small but perfectly adequate and everything was clean and worked properly. We overlooked the front of the hotel and the road below was bustling every work day which gave a little noise early in the morning, but not enough to disturb us, and actually we enjoyed being in this part of the city just for its busy quality. We were a short walk from the nearest tram stop and that took us to all the sights we were interested in. The terrace restaurant is a real delight, and we were able to sit outside in the sunshine for breakfasts and under the nearly full moon for night caps even in late October (be aware though that drinks are priced in Euros rather than Turkish Liras). Breakfasts were more than adequate and the waiters could not have been more friendly or helpful. Actually the staff are the real highlight of the Niles Hotel - they are well trained, speak excellent English for those of us whose Turkish is only basic, they are informative, attentive and obliging. If you're a retired couple like us who don't want 5* luxury but rather excellent value for money and a hotel of real Istanbul character, the Niles is for you.
“Traveler Review on this hotel was right!”
I chose this Hotel Niles purely based on the Traveler reviews which said their hotel service was the best. They were right and I'm glad we chose this hotel. It's a small hotel, but in a great location in downtown Istanbul, clean, comfortable, with a great terrace restaurant on the roof, and best of all, their service. Their front desk manager was very helpful in giving any tourist directions you needed, and the owner of the hotel was ever present.
“a rare gem”
a budget hotel of 1st class quality in all departments.
“Can't wait to go back”
The Niles Hotel is exceptional in its friendliness and service. We were greeted like long lost friends and waited on hand and foot. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile. The breakfast is excellent and the roof terrace is a lovely place to sit in the sun over a drink. Can't recommend it highly enough.
