“ALOHA is for real at WBV”
We have been to other Hawaiian islands but we enjoyed our stay on Kauai the most . The WBV condo 308 was everything that we were hoping for ...great view, beach gear...chairs,cooler,boogie boards, masks and fins, everything you need to relax while on vacation this was a bonus. Having a washer and dryer was also great, next time we won't pack as many clothes. And yes there will be a next time! Places to eat were not a problem as there were 3 places( Thai,Japanese, and Mexican) Mema Thai was very good! Kintaro as well, the Mex. joint was OK we have had better, but all were within walking distance from WBV, as well as the cheapest gas on the island across the street! Yer gonna need to rent a car! We liked the Wahoo Grill the best ,just down the road in Kappa' great fish dishes!
“Overall a Very Good Experience”
Every room has a view of the ocean! My unit was on the third floor (request third!) and I had a really nice view that was half ocean, half jungle/mountains, and the bay right between them. The main road does run along the bay but I didn't mind. The condo was great-- full kitchen with everything you'll need to cook, tv's with dvd players in living room and bedroom, comfortable beds, lots of furniture in the living room as well as on the deck, and all the swimming pool and ocean equipment you'll need (4-5 boogie boards, one set of snorkel equipment, beach towels, etc). My girlfriend and I felt completely at home here-- stayed out all day and then came home at night for a swim in the pool, cooked dinner, and watched movies since there is not much to do at night in the area. Nice central location with cheap groceries nearby for safeway members.
“Pleasantly Surprised”
I am always a bit leery when booking a hotel online with only pictures as reference. I previously stayed at Best Western Plantation Hale and while I was satisfied there as well, the rooms were not beachfront which is why I selected this hotel instead. I was extremely satisfied with the service, beginning with the phone call to obtain our unit #. The staff was very helpful and willing to accomodate changing the location of our unit to an end unit. When we arrived, I was at first hesitant at the location being right off the highway and there being a gas station mini mart so close in proximity, however once in the complex/unit, it was a non-issue and actually a perfect midway location for touring the island. The view off the lanai is absolutely beautiful to see and hear. This is not a fancy high end establishment with a lot of frills and full service included, however it is very spacious, comfortable and clean and we would definitely stay there again. We met other people there who were very satisfied as well. Having a full kitchen to stock snacks and to cook occasional meals in was not only economical but much healthier and convenient for any longer than a week's stay. I already have highly recommend this condominium complex to all of my friends, family and co-workers. Unless you are expecting a 4-star full blown frills hotel, you will not be dissatisfied with this safe, clean and friendly complex.
“Wonderful view”
This was exactly what we've expected - and it even surpassed our expectations. Wonderful view from the lanai, great equipment (toaster, dishwasher, washing machine and drier included), clean and well maintained and not very expensive... In terms of quality / price ratio, definitely recommendable. Some small disadvantages: not too nice from the outside (grey building), beach access was difficult and involved crossing the parking lot...and the bathroom a little outdated (#215). still, perfect location on the island (close to both north and south coast) and the VIEW compensated for everything.
“Worked for me!”
Wailua Bay View worked great for our family! The condo is centrally located on the Island. Though we didn't make it everywhere, the places we did go to seemed easily accessible from our location. Groceries and dining were very close. Use Safeway over Foodland though. We fell for the club card and coupon the first night and spent a LOT of money at Foodland, but stuck w/ Safeway after that for more "reasonable" prices. We attended Smith's Luau, which was Fantastic! This was literally less than a mile from the condo. The view from our lanai was outstanding. The condo was stocked with many amenities. I can not think of one thing that I needed and couldn't find. The only meal we didn't eat at the condo was lunch...and sometimes we took that with us. I was a bit disappointed to find out, upon our arrival, that the condo we chose (#306) did not have the sofa bed that the description stated it had, but in the end it all worked out well. The furniture in the livingroom was quite light and I was able to make a bed for the twins by pulling the loveseat next to the couch. They did offer a blow up bed, but I felt that was more trouble than it was worth. We also went exploring the first day and found out that the "beach access" has been closed off because of the dangerous conditions. You can still get to the beach next door and in front via an access path to the North and walking along the very busy road to the South.
“Nice BUT...”
Great location , very nice room but the eye sore of the OLD Seashell restaurant right down from our view and the highway RIGHT beside our room. maybe we could have seen a condo person before we were pretty much told to hurray up and leave because she needed to clean.(this was before checkout time).other than that it was good.
“very good value - just two issues”
We stayed a week in Unit 302. The view from the living room and balcony was lovely - ocean and palm trees. The sound of the surf was soothing. As with most of the units in this complex, a/c was available only in the bedroom. We were fine because the owner left a portable fan in the living room which we used during most of our stay. Between the a/c and the fan and the ocean breeze, we were quite comfortable. However, I don't think we would have been without the portable fan. Given reviews we read, we were prepared for heavy highway noise. But, between the hum from the a/c and the pounding surf, noise was not a problem at all. Based on reviews of other units, our condo was not the most modernly renovated. But it was clean and little things, such as available salt, pepper, cooking/salad oil, vinegar, all kinds of utensils and a strong shower made up for that. The location was fantastic. Both the north and south sides of the island were close. The furthest we had to travel was to Waimea Canyon but even that was less than an hour if you avoided rush hour. The immediate location was excellent - Foodland nearby, snorkel rental, restaurants and shops, some of them walking distance, A wonderful walking/bike path along the ocean was very close by car. There were only two negatives. It is difficult to make a left turn onto the highway, especially during rush hour, so you have to keep that in mind when planning. Also, the check-out time of 10:00 was rushed.
“Old building but central location, GREAT view and good value.”
The overall place is well mainteined for its age. But our unit #315 had a poor working phone and broken air conditioner upon our arrival. The A/C was quickly repaired. This place is a good value and the view is great. Central location but near gas station, highway and retail stores so can be noisy on the front side (bedroom) side of the building. Get a 3rd floor unit with a higher number - 315 is highest. Unit 315 is farthest away from the noise and highway.
“Beautiful surroundings, but noisy”
We enjoyed staying at the Wailua Bay View. The room was tastefully furnished, and comfortable. The cleanliness of the room however, was not as we would have hoped - bloody stain on the mattress, crumbs in the furnature, and a dirty rug in the kitchen. It was well located for shopping, as we prepared some meals ourselves. The pool was very clean, and had pleasant surroundings. The caretaker was prompt and courteous
“Like to go back”
Really like this place. Nice and quiet #213 And whole Kauai!
