“Great small hotel”
The Koa Kea is a very nice small hotel in a great location. Service level and staff are incredible. There are limited (2) food options at the hotel, but the food is good, esp. breakfast. If you are looking for a low key, quiet, comfortable place for a special event or getaway, this is a good choice. It's right on the beach and has great sunset views. If you want a big resort experience with tons of food and drink options, this is probably not a good option.
“Great Memories From Staying HERE”
Would highly recommend this to any couple whose budget permits. It was a memorable and wonderful experience. All the people from valet to check-in to housekeeping to chef Chris were first-class!
“Koa Kea - Highly Recommended”
Koa Kea is a smaller but impecably appointed resort occupying the beach space between the much larger Marriott and Sheraton Resorts. It would suit more discerning travellers who preferentially shun the crowds and the general pressured vibe of larger resorts. The rooms are spacious enough for a couple, quiet and have everything you could need. There are shops and restaurants nearby in abundance and Red Salt restaurant in the resort itself was also excellent when we ate there. Staff are all well trained, knowledgable and friendly making our stay very pleasurable. We spent time watching Humpback whales in abundance lolling about just a few hundred metres from the shore directly in front of the resort. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to de-stress for a week or two. Definitely the sort of place where you could enjoy yourself doing absolutely nothing!
“Comfortable, elegant, romantic, fantastic service.”
The hotel was beautifully decorated, understated elegance, pleasingly small compared to the mammoth size of other hotels on the beach. All the staff were excellent, helpful, friendly, patient. Amazing service. Two minor complaints: The room was bit small for the money. And the rating system for the view was misleading. For example, "ocean view" means if you lean out over the your balcony, you can see a little ocean. Actually the room faced another building. Be sure to clarify what "ocean view," "partial ocean view" "ocean front" mean when you reserve.
“Spectacularly restful.”
Compared with some of the monster hotels in the vicinity, the Koa Kea is quiet, private, peaceful. We stayed for 10 days and got the rest we needed, as well as visiting the Allerton Gardens nearby, take the dinner cruise around the NaPali coast, and visit the north shore (Hanalei). The staff is friendly and exceedingly helpful. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are well done. The Red Salt restaurant serves incredible food... I can't say enough about this hotel. We'll come back.
“Peaceful”
Koa Kea is a great intimate hotel. Very good service with a very good restaurant. As an older married couple it was elegant and quiet. It is located on the beach a walking distance to everything one would need. We did not rent a car foer our 2 week stay. We wanted a quiet vacation and we got it.
“Our Mystery Vacation”
We spent the week of March 18th at the hotel and really enjoyed it. This year my wife & I decided to each do a "mystery vacation". I set it up, and she found out about the destination when we arrived at the airport. The staff was very responsive to your needs and everything was extremely clean and tidy. With two very large resorts on either side of the hotel, you felt very special due to the smaller size and space you enjoyed. We had a room with a partial ocean view and above the public beach access. I didn't notice any noise in the room. There was a rare monk seal on the beach by the hotel on two afternoons that was nice to see. There were also lots of surfers riding waves in front of the hotel due to a rock reef separating the beaches. The beach to the west of the hotel is small, but the larger beach to the east could be accessed easily via the walkway. Prior comments indicate that the staff know and address you by name after the first day, but we never saw that. Also I have AT&T cell service for my I-Phone and only received two bars at best for reception. Wi-Fi reception was also sporadic with our laptop and Nook reader shutting off periodically with no reception. Overall though, it was a very relaxing vacation, nice pool & pool bar, and great staff service.
“So glad we tried the Koa Kea!”
A smaller, non-branded hotel that earned its way to the top of the hotels in Kauai by having fantastic customer service, beautiful and comfortable rooms, and a great location in sunny Po'ipu. Pool is small, but pretty and heated to a very inviting temperature. There are bigger and fancier hotels in this area, but this one was a sanctuary to come home to every afternoon.
“Recommended.”
Honeymooned at the resort. Beautiful beachside location.
“Perfect Vacation”
Virtually flawless stay, at a hotel small enough that you can quick get to know (and be known) by the friendly staff.
