“Wonderfully relaxing spot in Kauai!”
We stayed @ the Princeville Hotel 10 years ago prior to it being purchased by the St. Regis, and the renovations are beautiful. We stayed in one of the St. Regis suites, and enjoyed the amazing views, the comfortable beds, and large bathroom. The only things which still seemed dated were the windows in the bathroom, the bathtub and sinks, which just seemed a little odd given the overall updated feel of the hotel. It was a little frustrating to find a simple solution for breakfast, since we did not always want to spend $40-$60 on a breakfast buffet. We would have loved just a simple breakfast solution. The pool area was wonderful, and I liked that there was not the pool chair competition every morning as in some of the larger hotels (such as the Westin in Maui - good grief). There was always plenty of chairs, and the pool and beach staff were very accommodating. Very relaxing!
“Hotel stay of a lifetime”
Worth every penny (well, it cost a lot of them). Gorgeous hotel, incredibly helpful and attentive staff, fantastic location on the island, every ammenity in the room or closeby. The only negative-- TERRIBLE food in the Kauai Grill (their signature venue, and the staff should be re-trained and chef should be fired)
“Second Visit Didn't Disappoint...”
This is our second visit in two years, the first being soon after the hotel was renovated. Now, it continues to be an amazing destination. From the moment we arrived the staff were incredible, and that continued pretty much throughout our six night visit. The views are stunning. While the experience garners a "5" in all categories, to be sure, our visit wasn't without its faults, though. One is that the the Kauai Grill, which was a 1-Star Michelin restaurant at our last visit, is no longer Michelin rated, nor should it be. In fact, it was stunningly overpriced for what we got...the service was amateurish, the room was too dark to see our food, the food was not exceptional, and the prices were double what they should have been. For eating, go up the main road about a mile to the new "Tavern" restaurant and you'll be pleased you did, for it was the opposite in all ways: excellent service, outstanding food, reasonable prices, and world-class views. That grumble aside, we felt everything was worth the pretty penny we paid. We look forward to a third visit. Btw, don't miss the Princeville Ranch horseback riding and ziplining. It wasn't cheap but worth every penny of a magnificent experience for our two teenagers and us.
“40th anniversary splurge”
We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor overlooking pool, ocean and mountains. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Grounds are beautiful. There is a private beach and hugh pool. Never over crowded. Kauai Grill was excellent and the Sunday Brunch fabulous. Rooms are very clean and roomy. The king bed was very comfortable. Top of the line toiletries for bathing etc. Everyday when we returned to the hotel we were welcomed back and asked about our day by the valets. Their staff seems very happy and most have been there for many years. We arrived at about 1pm and we were able to get to our room immediately. Normal check-in is 3pm. TV service is not really user friendly. There was no program guide available so you had to surf all the channels. (small inconvenience) Parking was $30 per day which added up after a 9 day stay and drinks at the bar were overpriced. $16 for a Bloody Mary. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would stay there again if we have the chance.
“It doesn't get any better than this...”
Unbelievable! The hotel was amazing in every way and the staff was second to none. By far the best hotel experience I've had:)
“Can't Beat The View From Your Room...”
This is the one of the most beautiful settings ever!! It is very relaxing, the view from your room CANNOT be beat. We come here every year for our anniversary, and love iT!! The beach however is much better at Hanalei, but you can literally walk 5 minutes down the beach and you are there... Save your money, because everything about this hotel and are in general are pricey!! But for our us this once a year splurge is totally worth it!
“North shore elegance”
Enjoyed our stay. We liked our view from our room located on the 9th floor.
“Super Fantastic!”
My wife and I stayed at this hotel in 1986, when it was a brand new Sheraton. It was excellent at that time. Now that it is St. Regis, it is even better. The facilities and staff are nothing short of AWESOME. It is expensive, for sure. In this case, you really do get what you pay for.
“Worth every penny!”
WOW!! By far the nicest hotel I have ever seen. Yes, It is expensive but you really do get what you pay for. The staff is exceptional, and you want for nothing. They do absolutely everything for you! The only drawback was the very high prices for room service and in their restaurants. The consolation is, is that the food was wonderful. We had room service and ate in their dining area more than once, and everything was prepared fantastic. Definitely a 5 star experience!
“Excellent hotel.”
A truly beautiful resort. The setting is breathtaking, with great views of Hanalei Bay and the mountains of the North Shore in the background. The rooms are almost all ocean-facing, and are very comfortable. The service is excellent and friendly.
