“Very good value”
The Rus is located a bit distant (20-25 minute walk) from central locations like the Opera. But if you master the Metro it's quite convenient, with the Sports Palace station 5 minutes walk. It's true the hotel is "on a hill" but the amount of uphill in this hike is no problem. Room was small but spotless; breakfast large and varied; concierges helpful. It is very much worth the money and comparable in quality for what you would get for the same price other places in Europe. I think I enjoyed a weekend rate, so maybe it's a less good buy during the work week. My only complaint would be that the taxi desk placed in the lobby for the convenience of guests definitely provides the "tourist rates." But I find it hard to begrudge a 2-tiered price system for tourist amenities in a country like Ukraine, even as I pay it.
“Great Experience”
The hotel was very comfortable with many conveniences. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. They were helpful in getting me a taxi to the airport at a guaranteed rate.
“Best Breakfast Buffet”
I stayed at this hotel twice. And I am very satisfied with the service and facilities. I love the Breakfast buffet. I have stayed at other hotels in the Ukraine and I am happy to say this hotel offers the best breakfast buffet. The hotel offers a variety of food hot and cold. The buffet has great selection of cheese, fruits. salads, and meats. I always look forward to the breakfast brunch when waking up in the morning. The hotel room is clean and comfy. I glad the wi-fi internet service is excellent. The speed is quite high.
“Good price for good hotel”
Very happy with our experience of the Rus Hotel. Staff spoke good English & were very helpful. Money exchange in hotel lobby with same rates as in the city. Breakfast pretty good. Restaurant very reasonably priced. Avoid the Avis taxi company in the lobby as they are much more expensive than other cabs. It is a short walk to the main high street & metro from hotel. Definately recommend this place.
“RUS Hotel Kyiv - A nice suprise”
I was a bit leary of staying at this hotel, especially since I have had some very bad experineces at former Soviet era hotels which have since converted to the market economy. I must say however, we were pleasantly suprised. The front desk was extremly healpful and curteous, room was clean, bar in the evening resonable and served us a late dinner, and in the morning, an excellent breakfast. For someone who normally stays at Radisson and Hyatt, we enjoyed our overnight stay. We would recommend to anyone looking for a great value in a great location in the center of town.
“Good accommodation in Kiev”
While one shouldn't expect standards of a hotel in western Europe this was good. In fact it was so good it felt like I was indulging in the trappings of wealth and materialism while many of the people in the city hardly had any money at all. While this is what the tourist wants -good accommodation, nice food, good service please be mindful the people outside (and even those in the hotel working there) have little or no money so I urge you to tip the chambermaids generously.
“Much nicer than we anticipated.”
From reviews which we had read, and our experience with a Russian hotel some years ago, we were more than pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rate was reasonable, the staff was more than helpful, the room was large, very clean and bright, provided conveniences right down to comfy bathrobe. The breakfast buffet could not have been better. You name it, they served it. Hot and cold offerings, lovely fresh fruit etc. We would certainly recommend this hotel.
“Nice for short stay”
Located close to downtown and airport. Good all around service. Quiet. Strange, though, no room service menu in my room...was told to go to the 2nd floor?? Room is rather small but ok for short stay.R
“Good value and excellent location”
Spent weekend of Junior EuroVision Song Contest 2009 at Hotel Rus and traditional foods served at reception after the performance were quite good. Excellent location and much better hotel than reviews that I read on this hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay on any future visits to Kiev.
