“A Good Quality Hotel in the Heart of KL.”
We spent three days at the Istana in February 2012. The hotel's position is central and makes for easy access to shopping malls etc. Going further afield was also easy with a monorail station very close to the hotel entrance. The room was clean, comfortable and had all the facilities expected of a hotel of this standard. Excellent bathroom - separate bath and shower with rain and hand showers. Beds were large and comfortable. For a city centre hotel, we were pleased to find the room quiet with no traffic noise. The breakfast buffet was first class with enough choice to suit most tastes. It did however get quite busy during the week with business customers. Additionally, the evening buffet was well worth a visit - again lots of choice and beautifully presented. At the time of our visit the hotel was doing two for the price of one (for guests staying at the hotel) and this made the evening buffet exceptional value. The gardens and swimming pool provided anice area to relax - especially after walking the streets of KL during the heat of the day. The staff were very attentive - indeed, the welcome you received every time you went through the main entrance was somewhat over the top! I know this review seems a bit effusive, but we spent a month in Malaysia and stayed at several hotels. The Istana was certainly one of the better ones and we have no hesitation in recommending it.

“Comfortable and service oriented hotel”
From the time I arrived until I left, I felt very well looked after by the hotel's staff. I stayed in a Club room (floors 18 and above) which provided me with express check-in and check-out, as well as acces to the Club Lounge where they had available a great variety of items as part of the breakfast that was included in the room's price per night. I also could have afternoon tea and refreshments anytime during the day free of additional charge. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff is truly service oriented. I highly recommend this hotel.
“Great central hotel”
An excellent hotel in a very central location, close to Pavillion for shopping and eating opportunities. A stroll to the Petronas Towers or take the hotel shuttle. Very attentive staff, would highly recommend this hotel.
“Dont overlook this well established otel”
Not the most modern 'kid on the block' but well appointed, clean, comfortable, well located to major up market shopping centres, superb attentive service, very helpful staff, in summary, excellent value for money. Would be difficult to find better deal.

Great hotel, so close to city centre and main shopping malls. Definitely will be back!
“Excellent hotel, excellent location would definitely recommend this hotel”
The hotel enjoys the best location one could ask for. From the airport take the train - do not take the express if you have time because the Transit train takes maybe 10 mins more but costs 50 percent less and both trains are comfortable. From Sentral take a taxi - prepaid at the station. No need to eat at the hotel - the prices are high when compared to the cafe just around the corner - 3min walk, and the food there has a good local food choice. Walk to Bukit bintang which is surrounded by three other malls - one of which has heaps of electronic items - cannot remember the name. Traffic is horrendous so you save time staying in this hotel - because you can walk - not more than 10 mins, and you could make 2/3 trips a day. Pavillion mall is a block away and has all the Big brand items. Touristy items are also close with the mono rail station just across the road from the hotel. The staff in the hotel are excellent and make every attempt to assist you at all times. Hats off to them for speaking in English inspite their local language being Malay.
