“Great Hotel!”
Comfortable, clean, nice hotel, but above all their customer service is 5 stars. We only had 3 days in Kyoto and needed to maximize our time therefore we requested the Concierge's assistance with suggestions on where to go, transportation, maps, time tables for trains and buses, etc. and each time we received the most detailed and accurate information, and particularly we got very good recommendations about the highlights of the city. Both concierges who helped us really made a huge difference in our trip; I do not believe we would have seen and enjoyed so much of Kyoto without their assistance.
“Four Seasons-quality service. Amazing.”
From the bell service to housekeeping to the concierge, I could not have been more impressed with the attention to customer service. And I am NOT easy to please. Well located near the Imperial Palace, it is in a quiet, yet convenient, location. They provided wonderful restaurant suggestions.
“Impressed!”
Very comfortable with helpful staff. The location is quiet, and a free shuttle is provided to a neraby subway stop. Reasonably priced for Kyoto.
“Swanky, pricey, restful, remote”
This is a super swanky hotel just next to the Emperor's palace, for which you need an appointment months in advance. However, it is far from downtown in a residential neighborhood and the food is extremely expensive (and very good).
“Great Service”
The staff at the Brighton were very helpful. They helped us find local restaurants and sights; they helped us get a memory card reader for my daughter's camera; and they helped us fix a broken umbrella - all we had to do was ask. The rooms were great, they were clean with plenty of room. The tourist sites were just a short taxi ride away. We really enjoyed our stay here.
“lovely hotel in Kyoto”
We were really pleased with the Brighton. We had dinner at the Terrace restaurant and it was amazing, one of the best meals we had in Japan. The staff was fantastic and the room very comfortable.
“favorite hotel in Japan”
very solicitous, smiling, and helpful staff. great value for pricey Japan. shuttle ride to subway every 20 minutes. nice bath and amenities
“Amazing”
Our stay at the Brighton hotel was wonderful. An amazing staff, an amazing facility, an amazing room. The english speaking conceriege was helpful numerous times helping us get around Kyoto and plan our days. The hotel location makes it a bit of a walk to get to the bus (which the concereige desk was again helpful in showing us how to use) but there's a shuttle avaiable if you find that too much to do on a daily basis. Despite, or rather because, of the ~5 minute walk to the main street the actual area around the hotel is very nice and filled with many small restaraunts and shops to explore. I wasn't all that impressed with restaraunts at the hotel, but i didn't really find that limiting as Kyoto is filled with great places to eat.
“A Gem of a Hotel”
We stayed at the Kyoto Brighton Hotel in the summer of 1998 and loved it so much that we immediately decided to return to it in the summer of 2009. It was just as we remember. Large, spacious rooms with sitting areas, comfortable beds, and sparklingly clean bathrooms. The service was faultless, especially the concierge - they arranged all sorts of trips for us and made various transportation reservations.
“Wonderful hotel in quiet neighborhood setting.”
The Kyoto Brighton is a clean, comfortable, attractive hotel with a friendly, efficient staff. My non-smoking room was spotless and large with a well-stocked bath/shower room. Unlike other places I've stayed, I didn't have to endure smoke-filled hallways on the way to the elevators or in the lobby. The young women at the Concierge desk were pleasant, extremely helpful, and spoke excellent English. I also enjoyed the hotel's neighborhood location, with easy access to very good small restaurants and an excellent French bakery. The area was safe and welcoming. I had no worries about walking alone after dark to a friend's house in the area. I have already recommended the hotel to others traveling to Kyoto.
