“Great hotel, great location.”
Great hotel. A block away from the train, subway and bus stations.
“A very convenient location!”
Staying in the New Miyako hotel was a nice experience. It is very conveniently located opposite to the railway station, Kyoto tower and some important shrines(within walking distance). We did need 2 rooms with children aged 13 and 16, and the rooms are small but reasonably comfortable. I think the easy access to the railway station and the number of restaurants there makes it one of the best places to stay in Kyoto.
“Very Conveniently Located”
We stayed at the New Miyako Hotel as an extension of a tour and found the location extremely convenient. It is directly accross from the train and bus stations and that made it very easy to move around on the trains as well as the subway and busses. There is a wonderful mall right next door and in the train station which provided plenty of options for food and shopping. The hotel itself was very nice and the staff extremely helpful. The room by Japan standards was large and comfortable. We had multiple options for breakfast but opted to eat at the small bakeries due to the cost. We did order room service one evening and felt it was not worth the money, the food was nothing special. Overall we would recommend this hotel for anyone who want a convenient locaion in Kyoto for running around and seeing all the sights.
“Excellent location”
First visit to Kyoto, location of hotel is excellent, though not pretty view from room, economical restaurants just across the road and very close to train station so getting about is easy. Did not eat in hotel but the restaurants looked okay. Staff helpful some spoke reasonable English. Japanese loos are known for heated seats, incorporated bidet & sprays, the loo in the hotel lobby had ♫ button as well. Would definitely go back to this hotel.
“Already planning our next trip to Kyoto.”
Our only problem was we had to leave after 13 days. We were assisted many times by locals. One man had his wife drive the car to the train so he could take us directly to our destination instead of a 3rd subway. A woman helped us find a bank to exchange money near the flea market. It took her 3 tries and 45 minutes. We shared photos of our dogs, grandchildren, gardens and quilt and made instant friends. We took photos of all who helped us. It is so easy to travel by train or subway or bus. On our one rainy day we took the JR to Shigo and walked underground to stores and the Arcade. I have been to Kyoto 5 times and on this trip found even more "new" experiences. Our side trip to Ohara was a winner...gardens, shrines, good food, good shopping. I am ready to return. The textile markets were a highlight for quilters and those who sew wearable art. You can not say "arigato" enough and it was evident locals appreciated our efforts.
“Great hotel in a convenient location”
I enjoyed the New Miyako Hotel very much. The staff was great--very polite and considerate. Their English isn't perfect, but they work very hard to understand any concerns or questions and address them satisfactorily. The concierge was particularly great; she gave us a great recommendation for a sushi place in Gion, gave me information for our day trip to Nara, and tracked down shops at which I could buy second-hand kimonos or cheap souvenirs (whatever I needed).
“Lovely experience”
Check-in and check-out fast and efficient. As always, feel bad that our bellhop insists on hauling our huge bags to our room. We always take them down at check out though we know they'd happily come get them. We never ate at the hotel so we can't speak to the food quality though quick glance in - beautiful though expensive in keeping with the level of the hotel. Hotel is beautiful and incredibly convenient to plenty of shopping and lots of restaurants, sights and trains and buses. Room is lovely though small for most Americans. We went with friends who we warned about hotel sizes beforehand as it was their first trip to Japan - our XXXth(?# trip to Japan. I think they thought we exaggerated. First comment - "Wow! Nice but small!" Nicely appointed. Very comfortable. Quiet. Fast elevators The personnel were very helpful - concierge to doorman #who liked practicing his English :-)
“Nice hotel, convenient location”
I had booked two rooms and we were upgraded to larger rooms for both. The rooms were nice, clean and spacious. Location was great, right across the train and bus stations. Only one restaurant, but right next to McDonald's if you want a quick bite. I would definitely stay here again for the convenience of the location.
“Family vacation”
Conviniently located across the street from the train station. Clean rooms.
“Good base for sight seeing”
My husband and I found this hotel to be a great base for getting around Kyoto. The hotel is very near the station which made it easy to find when arriving from Tokyo by Bullet train. It also made it easy for getting the buses around Kyoto and getting to and from all of the temples and shrines. The interior was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. Would recommend this hotel as a mid budget choice.
