“fantastic hotel would love to go back again”
loved the hotel and the area is the best you could visit on lake Garda the rooms are spaceouis clean and comfortable with fantastic lake veiws all the staff are nice and very helpfull the locals are very friendly didn't want to leave can't wait to go back again
“great experience”
beautiful location, great view from balcony overlooking lake. Hotel staff were the best. Some of the carpeting was wearing a little thin, but somehow this added to the old fashioned grandeur of the hotel. Would certainly return, and recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area. The ferry boat stop is right outside the hotel giving easy access to other towns on the lake.
“Frequent happy stayer”
This was our 4th visit and the place was as good as ever. However, we feel that the hotel must guard against taking too many people on package holidays - we felt that some people do not appreciate that there are certain ways to behave in hotels of this calibre. Snobbish? probably, but when you are paying these prices for B & B you expect certain standards of behaviour from guests.
“Great Hotel”
The hotel has a wonderful position right on the lakeside with the ferry landing stage literally outside the hotel gate. Gardone is a quiet and relaxing place and seems to avoid the heaving crowds that you find in places like Sirmione and Malchesine in August. The quality of service in the hotel is exemplary and the quality of food is high. Be prepared for the fact that most people will be there on package deals with big travel firms. If you are there on a B&B basis then you have the option of eating in or out and the hotel's A La Carte restaurant is an excellent option and seperate from the main restaurant where the Half Board people eat. It is open fronted onto the lake and gives you some beautiful views as the sun goes down each evening.
“Going Back in Time”
We have just returned from a week's holiday in Gardone for my husband's 50th birthday. We loved the overall appearance of the hotel and its dining areas and outdoor terraces. The staff were delightful and very accommodating. The position of the hotel is second to none - overlooking the lake and very near all the restaurants and shops. Our only criticism would be with the rooms. Our room was fairly small and gloomy but after asking for an alternative we were given a larger room with balcony and good views. It was however a little gloomy. The general feel of the hotel I think is Arts & Crafts/Art Deco. The furniture and fittings in our room were very interesting but look very tired and in need of renovation. The internet was quite expensive and only available in the public areas. However, we must mention Bar Milano - a few hundred yards from the hotel who let us use their internet free of charge and we also had a couple of very good meals there. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and would certainly go back.
“Brilliant views, wonderful location.”
The Grand Hotel is in a beautiful and tranquil location overlooking the Lake. The ferry service stops right outside the door and evenings on the veranda were wonderful. The staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel has an olde world charm that is missing in many modern day hotels. The buffet breakfast is outstanding and if you sit on the veranda overlooking the Lake to enjoy breakfast in the sun, it certainly gets your day off to the perfect start. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and only had one evening meal at the Hotel. We chose the a la carte restaurant for this meal, which was a little disappointing. The service was not especially attentive and the food was average. The reception staff were helpful and knew the local area well and were willing to help us. At the time of our stay, their internet connection was faulty for two days, despite us reporting the fault. Car parking is opposite the hotel and is a bit sporty crossing the busy road and then finding space. It cost an additional €12 per day. We found the resort of Salo, just two miles up the road extremely charming and prettier than Gardone, although the views of the Lake have no comparison. Overall, a good experience.
