“Comfortable and Cozy”

This B&B was very comfortable. It's a nice cozy little place and the owner is very nice. The location is great as well. We only stayed for one night but I could have easily stayed longer. We walked everywhere in the city so it's close to everything (although there's a lot of hills in Lake Placid so make sure you have comfy shoes!) The breakfast is simple bagels, cereals, etc but it's perfectly fine. I would recommend this B&B to anyone going to Lake Placid.

“Great location and stay!”

It was better than I had anticipated! Clean room, friendly owner, and very close to the downtown area. Walking distance to the Ice rink. We stayed for the half marathon so we were unable to have breakfast but we really enjoyed the location and of course the price!

“Loved the Westcott Townhouse at Spruce Lodge”

Very clean, like-new rooms. Fully-stocked, large kitchen. Nice living room, large dining room, 3 nice bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with shower, 1 with a jacuzzi! Thoughtful decorating. It was like having your own house in Lake Placid! People could get up at different times without waking everyone else. Heating was very good, 2 fireplaces as well. Staff was exceedingly helpful. It was about a 1-mile walk up to the Main Street shopping area, 3/4 mile to the rink/arena/oval. We loved it! Would definitely go there again.

“Great Value, Great Location”

I recently stayed at the Spruce Lodge while in town for a wedding. Especially in October with the numerous festivals and changing of the leaves it is a peak time to visit, so surrounding hotels/inns/B&Bs are all well overpriced. For minimal money, I originally didn't set my standards to high, but upon arrival was very impressed for what I got for such little money. While the main house is slightly outdated, and reminded me of my grandparents farm house growing up, it was full of old charm and character. The room I stayed in (2) had a very comfortable double bed, dresser, chair, and three windows. The bathroom was very spacious and included a standup shower. I am rather picky when it comes to where I stay, and this B&B was extremely clean, and did not disapoint. Breakfast in the morning was minimal but gave you enough to get your day started. While you can walk right into town (10 minute walk), if you get there early there is plenty of on-street parking. My friends all stayed at various hotels well over overpriced for the night, and they all felt they truly did not get their moneys worth staying. I on the underhand will definately stay at the Spruce Lodge next time I am in town.

“A Delightful Bed and Breakfast!!”

I have had the pleasure of visiting the Spruce Lodge twice, both times for a ski trip. The rooms were comfortable and had their own bit of charm. The young couple running the place were friendly and helpful without being overly intrusive. Their two kids are entertaining, but the cats definitely are the highlight of the show!! Breakfasts were good and filling, and the kitchen table is a great place to shoot the breeze with other guests and pick up a few tidbits of helpful information. If you're looking for deluxe rooms with your own personal T.V. set, bubble baths and mints on the pillow, look elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a fun, friendly, relaxing, and enjoyable spot to spend a day, a weekend, or a week, and do so at a most reasonable price, this is definitely worth following up on.

Nicely located at the outskirts of town, conveniently furnished and equipped (has even Wi-Fi). Very clean and well kept.

Very pleasant. Staff very congenial. Rooms nice, bathrooms very nice. Help-yourself breakfast delicious. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

“Lake Placid B&B”

Cozy and reasonably priced. A big house with lots of small rooms. Staying in the apartment over the back porch is like having a little cabin for a few days. The Spruce Lodge is on the main road heading out of the village of Lake Placid toward the ski jump and the Adirondack Loj. It's a short walk uphill to the restaurants on Main Street.

“Great accommodations and comfort, lacks the intamcy of a traditional bed and breakfast”

We stayed in the apartment suite and the accommodations were great. The price was excellent and we had our own, kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and the living space was nice for relaxing after a long day on the slopes. The Spruce Lodge doesn't have daily maid service(as with any B&B), but the room was still kept very clean. The kitchen was equipped with hot chocolate, which we were greatly appreciative of considering the frigid climate of Lake Placid. Overall our stay was wonderful, my only qualm is that it lacked some of the charm I've experienced at other B&Bs. The owners keep their interaction with the guests to a minimum. When we arrived we were taken directly to our room, without any "hello, nice to meet you, how was your trip?" greeting. The breakfasts were just cereal, bagels, granola bars, and fruit. No home cooked hot meal, like I've come to expect from B&Bs. The slight downgrade in breakfast quality and lack of owner/tenant interaction was only mildly disappointing and was not enough to deter us from having a wonderful time at the lodge and in the town. Lake Placid is a beautiful town and we loved our stay. I would recommend both the lodge and area to anyone.
