“Great experience”
Great room and convenient Nice facilities - complimentary water - telly with loads of channels
“Comfortable stay, excellent service”
This hotel in beautiful...very comfortable, modern and spotless. I could not believe I was in a business quality hotel at such a low price. I read the reviews and still it exceeded my expectations. Friendly staff helped me book a tour, provided directions, helped me with my pronunciation. I highly recommend this hotel!!!
“Excellent service!”
The hotel was clean and modern, the room was nicely appointed and spacious, but where this accommodation really shines is their service standard! Every staff member was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty. We experienced impeccable service during our stay. Imtiaz, who staffed the front desk, was especially helpful with every need we had! I injured my foot during our trip and was unable to walk, and he went above and beyond by calling the airline to arrange for a wheelchair for us, called taxis when we needed it, and made excellent recommendations for nearby dining options. Top notch professional. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any friend headed to Lisbon.
“Comfortable, clean, good value but a bit far out”
We stayed at Hotel Alif Avenidas over a long weekend. The hotel is clean and modern, and the staff was helpful with everything we asked. Our room had the perfect amount of space for a couple. The only slightly negative things were: There was no air-conditioning and we could not turn the thermostat down to cool the room. There was one window that opened slightly. So, our room was a bit warm. We needed to use the hotel's computer one morning and only one of the computers was working. Another couple was on the computer and kept topping up their credit. We had to sit and wait and, as a result, we did not have time to go to a museum we'd wanted to see (this was on our last day). Also, extremely early on Monday morning we were awakend by very loud construction nearby. This was made worse by the fact that the window was open because of the aforementioned temperature issue. Finally, the hotel is a bit far from the sights and it is in an area that is dead on weekends. This is not the hotel's fault, but it's worth mentioning. Lisbon is a very spread out city, so you will end up walking a lot or taking transport no matter where you stay, but walking home each night to the hotel was long (and uphill) and late at night a bit scary, as no other people were around. But, the value of the hotel more than made up for its slightly off the beaten track location. And, we cannot say enough good things about the staff. We would happily stay at the hotel again.
“Great customer service”
This is a new hotel, the rooms are very modern, and the bathroom was one of the largest I've seen for a hotel in Europe. I was most impressed by the helpfulness of the staff. Upon arriving, the employee at the front desk did more than just check us into the room. Without us asking, he pulled out a map, showed us good areas for shopping, restaurants, and site seeing. He also explained the metro and provided a map. He then asked if we had dinner reservations (which we didn't) and booked some for us a local restaurant he recommended. When we showed up in the lobby at 7:30 PM for dinner, he had the bell man escort us to the restaurant (even though it's a nice area and we walked around alone several other nights). A few days into our stay I also had trouble logging off the wireless internet on my iphone. When I called the front desk, they sent someone up immediately to assist me and he showed me how to do it in a matter of seconds. The staff are very friendly and want to do everything they can to help. The one downside to this hotel is that there are two "Hotel Alif's" in Lisbon. Since this one is new, most cab drivers take you to the old hotel Alif several blocks away. Before leaving, I recommend grabbing a business card from the front desk that you can provide to the cab drivers when you are trying to return to the hotel so they are not confused and can see the address.
“Would definitely go back”
When we looked on the map we wondered if we'd chosen well. But we should not have worried. The Alif is in a really nice quiet street, handy for the Metro and Lisbon's major department store with a couple of nice restaurants a few minutes away. The hotel is very smart and new, with excellent fittings. Our room was very nice and excellently cleaned and tidied every day. The breakfasts - the hotel does not have a restaurant for other meals - were top notch, with a good range of items including fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, ham and cheeses. The hot items were scrambled egg, toast and sausages. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. The only thing we would ask for - as with almost every other hotel we've stayed in - is a couple of comfortable chairs in the room so you don't have to sit on the bed.
“Great value, new, with helpful staff”
Located directly across from Metro station. Staff very helpful, courteous. Hotel is nearly brand new, no complaints--great value.
“Happy to recommend”
Great hotel, recently opened (Feb 2012). Very clean, courteous staff. You may think it is away from the centre but you can get the Metro from either Sao Sebastiao or Saldanha very easily. Buses from the centre to Saldanha are frequent (we just caught the Line 1 Aerobus which runs every 20 minutes). There is building work behind the hotel which starts at 8am and finishes around 6pm but was not a problem (triple glazing). Try to get a B&B deal as the buffet breakfasts are very good and not expensive.
“Quite central modern hotel.”
No tea/coffee making facility in the room which was disappointing, instead you have to buy from the bar for €1, and they close at 11pm. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood and in front is the Sao Sebastiao metro station, and walking distance to the only shopping mall in Lisbon.
“Excellent 2 days break”
The price-quality ratio was very good for a 2 days break in Lisbon. Although the room rate did not include breakfast there were plenty of places around to have breaskfast. The Hotel is very clean, modern and very well located.
