Thistle Kensington Gardens

“Great base for Exploring.”

I arrived in the middle of the night - hours later than planned and was checked in and in my room less than 5 minutes after arriving at the hotel. Service was efficient and friendly. Room was small, but clean and comfortable. Shower was great - good pressure and lots of hot water. The location was excellent for my needs. 24 hr convenience store at the Shell station was useful for stocking up on much needed water, snacks etc. in the wee hours of the morning. Many good cafes, restaurants, food shops nearby. I would not recommend this hotel as a "destination hotel" but rather as a good place to sleep, shower, change clothes etc while exploring London.

“Above and beyond”

The hotel was excellent. Our biggest compliment comes from the service we received after we had left. I had forgotten a fairly large sum of money in the room safe. This was not discovered until our flight home to Canada was well on the way. The manager located the money and sent it promptly and cost efficiently to our home.

“Clean hotel, great value”

We stayed here for 8 nights. The hotel staff was friendly (we mostly dealt with the concierge), our room was clean, the bed was made up every day, fresh towels every day, had a hair dryer, safe, flat screen tv, and a towel warming bar. It is very close to the Queensway tube station and bus stops that take you direct to Oxford Circus, Westminster, and Piccadilly Circus. We were only at the hotel to sleep basically, and the bed in our room was very comfortable. The pillows were a little flat for my personal taste, but two pillows together were just right. The room and bathroom are small, but that is common and to be expected. We had several pieces of luggage and were able to stow them in the closet and out of the way to have full function of the room. Being across from the park was very nice as our travelcard was not good on the day we arrived, so we spent the afternoon and evening exploring the park and all of its sites.

“Perfect place to rest your head”

Hotel was clean, comfortable and had a relaxed atmosphere. Room was not huge but I found there was plenty of space for me and my shopping! It is less than 2 mins walk away from Queensway underground and there are plenty of restaurants in the area close to the hotel. Internet facilities are not great but there are lots of internet cafes nearby. I had a great experience at the hotel and have recommended the hotel to my friends and family.

“Great surprise hidden inside!”

The hotel was located in a great location - close to several great places to eat and shopping. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Room was clean, however small - but sufficed just fine. Breakfast was good - the buffet had many choices. I would definitely consider booking there again!

“Satisfied traveler”

I booked it because of the positive reviews here. And I am glad that I did so. Overall satisfying two nights weekend stay in this hotel. The nearest Tube station is on the central line, which makes it so convenient to link to most of the best loved London attractions. The reception is friendly and helpful. The room is basic but clean and tidy. The bed is comfortable. Price is good. Everything is just worth the value.

“The Cumberland Hotel, Marble Arch, London”

A day before our trip we found out that we will be located in the Cumberland Hotel at Marble Arch instead in Thistle Kensigton Gardens. The location was superb, close to Hyde Park, Marble Arch tube station and bus stops as well as the shopping areas in Oxford Street and Marylebone High Street. Our rooms were not very big and overlooked the courtyard but were nicely decorated in a modern style that we like and they were clean. Although the hotel was large and full, it was very quiet and we slept well. So far this is the best accommodation I had in London and we would like to stay there again.

“Thistle Kensington Gardens is a great location”

It's a short cab ride from Paddington Station and walking distance to Hyde Park, Kensington Palace, and High Street. A quiet little entrance on a side road (just steps from the corner) and the lobby is up one floor. Really a nice little place!

Great central location; close to bus and tube lines. Not a fancy hotel, but OK for the money.

“Very useable hotel for London”

Close to Bayswater underground station and Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, 10 mins walk from Paddington Station. Comfy room, good reception service, excellent breakfast and a good all round experience.
