“Definitely stay here, but eat somewhere else...anywhere else!”
We toured Ireland for a month, staying in everything from working sheep farms to luxury resorts and manor houses like Beech Hill. The Staff, room ,and grounds here are wonderful and our 2 night stay was very pleasant. The dinner was without doubt the worst and most oiver coocked and overpriced meal in our month long trip. I thought it was just me but i sat in the louge after dinner and heard the same type of comment from everyone there. OK maybe it was a bad night or the Chef's day off but for the price we didn't chance it again for dinner amd there are many places a short drive or taxi ride away. We went to breakfast the second day and nothing was ready 20 min after they were open so the kitchen has it's problems, but the rest of the place and staff were a delight.
“Derry Country Splendour”
Although the area immediately around the hotel wasn't special the hotel and it's property are. It has a wonderful history of having entertained diplomats, celebrities, and USA troops in years gone by and is worth a stay if you want quiet and relaxing. It has easy access to downtown Derry for restaurants in the unlikely event that the restaurant in the hotel isn't appealing. Moreso, it is a great location for sightseeing the Antrim coast/Giant's Causeway of Northern Ireland.
“Lovely!”
What a lovely place to stay. Not counting the awesome history and surrounds, the staff and owner all made the stay impressive. Would absolutely return for another stay.
“Friendly and relaxing”
This was a very comfortable and friendly hotel. The staff were willing to help, even rushing around with jugs of warm water to de-ice the cars in the morning. The food was really nice, but dinner was a little expensive. I recommend the early evening dinner which is a very good deal. The only trouble we had was finding the hotel in the dark on the first night. I would certainly stay here again.
“Overnight spring break”
My husband and I wanted an overnight stay in a small hotel. The beech hill was just perfect for us. . It is small but very well kept. This hotel has a lot of history and although old is beautiful maintained. Our bedroom was huge and very clean. The grounds are lovely too and very nice to walk round. The staff are very efficient and friendly. We took an evening meal and food was top class. Londonderry city was not far away and is worth a visit.
“Book elsewhere”
Be wary ...a rip off hotel , decent room prices but old rooms showers don't work and meals terribly overpriced and not even worth it very basic .... Best to book elsewhere.
