“Great hotel”
Very well located and offering great service in very pleasant surroundings, this hotel was formerly the residence of the prince. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.
“Paradise!”
I stayed at the Maison in gorgeous Luang Prabang for 4 days in June 2006 and only wished it could have been longer. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the bed, linen and pillows were pure bliss! I just could not fault it - the staff were so friendly and helpful and I really felt like I was in paradise. The room I was in had recently been painted and their was a strong smell of paint when I arrived. The Manager offered to move me the next day when a room became available but the smell had dissipated by then. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to return.
“Laos hotel”
Great service. VERY relaxed and chilled out location
“Sheer bliss in Luang Prabang”
Maison Souvannaphoum is a beautiful, well-preserved former royal residence that has been tastefully converted into a lovely hotel. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Each has is own porch/balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The hotel is within walking distance of everything a visitor wants to see and do. Staff was friendly and gracious and more than willing to help. I cannot wait to go back.
“Best place ever!”
We have lived and traveled in Asia the past 2 years and this is the nicest place we have ever stayed! I don't know why it is not rated a 5 star. It is flawless. The staff is superb with a warm greeting, a cool towel, and a cold tropical drink at check-in. The rooms are beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. The grounds are tropical and well maintained. The pool is small but nice and the staff provides guests with towels, cold towels, and ice water. So nice! The restaurant is also very good. And, location, location, location! Just a short walk to markets and everything else. There is also a beautiful spa which we, unfortunately, did not have time to use. Luang Prabang is wonderful.
“Loved the place! A peaceful escape with a great spa!”
This hotel was beautiful. Walkable to town, but you never want to leave the peaceful pool and beautiful room with great balcony. Cannot wait to return.
“A charming boutique hotel in Luang Prabang”
We had stayed at the hotel before it became an associate of an international group. It is a beautiful small hotel set in lovely gardens with the public areas in the former house of a famous Lao prince and politician. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and very well maintained. The staff are attentive and efficient and, from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very much at home. The breakfast is excellent with a special touch being the traditional Lao broth of "fur" with a choice of ingredients cooked to order. The hotel is slightly out of the centre but a five minute walk brings one to the main street. I can only say that the next time we are in Luang Prabang we will definately stay there. Highly recommended.
“Good, but...”
The Hotel is very nice; the staff is helpful; the spa is quite good - but for the price, I wasn't expecting to be given a room with just a shower booth and no bath. My advice, then, is that you avoid room 206, not only because of the conspicuous absence of the bath but also because the minibar fridge sounded like a power plant, something which, believe me, can have some impact upon your sleep. Booking tours or hotel transfers with the hotel is also one of those things you should think twice: they are overpriced and, particularly on the tours, there is no 'value added' in booking them through the hotel instead of booking them directly with one of the many travel agencies you can find in Luang Prabang.
“Will recommend this hotel to others”
The room was nice but the bathroom was a bit disappointing. There was a nasty smell upon arrival and it got worse and worse. We only stayed for 2 nights and by the time the smell was unbearable, we were about to check out. Elephant Blanc, the restaurant next to the pool was nice. Overall, we were rather happy with our stay.
