“Excellent service and location”

I would recomend this hostel to anyone. Forget the fact that its a gay hostel as that doesnt matter. Its location is bang on the centre of Madrid with everything in waling distance or the metro is right outside the door. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I would find it hard to find fault with this hostel. Ok the breakfast isnt amazing, but as we thought there was no breakfast, even that turned out to be a added bonus :-) If you visiting Madrid on a budget and need a place to get a few hours sleep at night/early morning ;-) then this place is excellent

I had booked a single room with shared faciliutes, but on check in was given a double at no extra charge. While it is shared facilities rooms all rooms appear to have a sink, and rooms are serviced daily. Breakfacst was simple but more than adequate; cereal, meat, cheest, tea coffee, muffins. As much as you want. Tea and coffee is available throughout the day. The fellow on reception was extremely helpful. I was looking to make a reservation at a restaurant, and as I have a really broad Scottish accident and my Spanish is reasonable and only best when faced to face, I asked him to make the reservation for me. He was very happy to do this. So top marks there. I cannot fault this property - if you only plan to use this place for sleeping its perfect, however if its sheer luxury your after look elsewhere.

“Hostal Puerta del Sol”

Great hotel, wonderful helpful staff and good services. There was tea/coffee available free at any time of the day and free internet access. The room wasn't great but it served it's purpose and Madrid has too much on offer to spend the trip indoors!

“Nice Place to Stay and Reasonable in Madrid”

Everything was fine at the hostal except that the manager did not give me the keys to the front door of the building and I almost could not get in one night -- other than that all is fine so just make sure to ask for the keys when you stay here - Great Location and Free Internet

“Perfect stay in Madrid!”

This hostel was incredible! The hotel staff were very sweet and helpful. The room was huge and had an amazing balcony with a view of Puerta del Sol. We shared a bathroom in the hall and it was very clean and well kept. The central location of this hotel was perfect. We were only there for three days so we walked everywhere to see everything we could and the hotel was in the perfect place! I would recommend this hostel to anyone! What a great place for an incredible value.

“Will never go anywhere else! Its brilliant”

Looking at the hotel from the outside I wasnt expecting much, especially as it was so cheap but boy was I wrong! You get more than you pay for. It was clean and the staff were perfectly friendly. Most of the poeple staying in the hotel were women or just families. Its so easy to get to the hotel via metro and only costs an amazing 2 euros!!!! the nearest stop is Sol (red line 2) which is literally 30 seconds away from the hotel. The location is perfect, we walked to all the main sights in madrid, the only time we needed the metro was to visit the Plaza de Toros (bullfighting ring) on the ventas metro stop. There are lots of cafes and shopping places nearby. I went with my sister and did not feel unsafe once throughout my stay and we would come back at 1 or 2 in the morning. The Spanish poeple are SUPER friendly! Puerta Del Sol is full of life and you will never get bored!

“We will stay there again for sure”

We have been travelling Europe for 4 weeks and stayed in MANY hotels and I can honestly say this one was by far the best of all! For value for money, location and helpful staff it can't be better!. The room was always clean when we returned from a day in the rain. The staff is the most friendliest ever, food was good, air conditioning very welcome. We will stay there again for sure. If you like cleanliness: this is your place. Thanks for being so nice!

“Great place to stay on a budget”

I stayed at Gay Hostel in Puerta Del Sol, It has a great location as you are only about a 10min walk from everything. The satff were very friendly and as i was travelling alone they had lots of advice and told me about little places I should visit that may not be on any tourist map. The room was very clean and comfy,In my room there was a balconey with a sunlounger overlooking the square. As the hostel is in such a busy square I always felt safe returning home at all hours and in different states!!

“A correction to the previous review”

Hotel staff very curteous. The hotel kept very clean in all areas. The breakfast served was excellant. The bath rooms were very clean. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends I got mixed up with the numbers when I did the first review. I put in 1 when it should have been 5 thinking that 1 is the best.

“Very impressed indeed”

This place is very good indeed. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the rates are very good, and it's in the best location in the city. There are computers if you need to access e-mail, everything is very relaxed, and if I go to Madrid again, which i probably will do, I'd like to go there again. The only thing i can't comment on is the food because I always went out for it.
