“Madrid trip”
This hotel was very nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. So many things close by. Metro access was right outside. The room and bathroom were clean and big enough for 4 people to share. Water pressure was awesome. Would stay again.
“Very Central”
We had arrived quite late at the hotel (around 12.30am) - the young receptionist processed everything quite swiftly. Our room was very clean and confortable and the view was magnificent! The hotel is very central - metro station Anton Martin is on the doorstep and Atocha a five minute walk. We hardly used the underground as everything is walking distance - Sol, Prado, Plaza Mayor etc. Santa Anna, which is a five minute walk, is good eating place if you dont want to walk to Sol. We liked a small tapas place where everything is for one euro! We would certainly stay at Tryp Atocha again.
“Very Good”
The room was very comfortable for 4 adults in a family. The staffs were very helpful.
“Nice hotel, great location”
Situated a 15 minute walk from the centre of Madrid and right next to a metro station provides for great access to all areas of the city. The hotel itself is fine, decent sized rooms and not too loud at night. Didn't have any food from the hotel however as it didn't look great and was fairly expensive. I would definitely stay here again.
“Excellent Hotel”
Excellent hotel! The location is close to Atocha Train Station, historical sites, dining, museums and shopping. A 10 minute walk to Plaza Mayor, 20 minutes walking to Catedral Almudena and Palacio Real. Nice rooms, very clean; great staff, very helpful (thank you Sonsoles!). I would definitely stay at Hotel TRYP Atocha again!
“Good location and service”
I had such a positive experience that I booked my return stay back at this hotel. It is very conveniently located - literally on top of a metro station and 10 minutes from the Prada, Thyssen, Reina Sofia and Caixa Forum museums and also from Atocha train station. A pedestrian area with lots of tapas bars is just up the street. Room was fine and bed was comfortable. Hotel serves a bountiful breakfast including fresh fruit. You have to pay for the internet but fee is reasonable and you don't have to use all of the time in one sitting (which is life saving). I purchased 30 min for 3 euros and used it over several days. I had several very helpful people at the desk - in general the women (especially Sonsoles) spoke English very well and were very helpful. The men less so but were still okay. The only improvement I would suggest is either to 1) put more carpeting down or add something to the bottom of the chairs in the guest rooms and breakfast room. Although it didn't keep me up, while I was in bed I could hear everytime someone moved a chair in their room or the breakfast room.
“Location,location....”
This hotel on a busy commercial street is not near any one attraction but is convenient to all the classic central Madrid features. Get to know the back alley society of the neighborhood and you will forget the busy street and find charming cafes, avant garde shops and shortcuts to the museums, palaces and plazas. The hotel DID have its quirks--the rooms were small but very adequate and they stuffed every luxury feature they could into the baths....but the lobby was sub-par, there was a creaky pay-as-you-go internet access and keyboard/screens for hire, our room had no opening windows and we were there at climate change from spring to summer--so the a/c was not yet commissioned-think toasty. The staff did well in varying degrees of English speaking and were all genuinely helpful. Dont worry about not buyng the hotel breakfast...there are several food shops and bakeries nearby--but they dont sell coffee. For the home-sick there is even a Dunkin' Donuts just up the street which has rolls and coffee for reasonable (this IS Madrid) prices. All in all--I would do it again.
“Great location, quiet and comfortable.”
Excellent location, walking distance to Prado, Thyssen, and Reina Sofia museums, Plaza Mayor, Atocha Train Station, Parque de Madrid, Plaza de Espana, Royal Palace. Many and varied (Thai, Morrocan, Tappas, etc) restaurants, bars, minimarts close by. Metro station right in front of hotel (Anton Martin). Rooms a bit small but not a problem. Quiet at night. Nice breakfast buffet. The staff was helpful (in English). The only complaint is the hefty charge for internet service.
“Too expensive for what you get”
* You enter the room to be greeted by the foul smell of drainage. It was raining in Madrid and this must have caused drains to back up somewhere. * There was no ironing board or iron in the room. They provided a malfunctioning iron upon request, but we had to iron on the bed, because they didn't have boards * Great location right next to the Metro station
“Good hotel”
Good hotel, clean and big room. Was a bit loud outside but this is probably due to us staying at the hotel on a champions league semi final night. Very good location to walk from and see Madrid.
